Stay with me here. They could have done it when they saw Echo close to a kill and it could be because of mental health concerns.
We have all had a time or two we have pushed past where we probably should have to reach a goal I am sure. It’s very much in the realm of possibility that they saw the reason for pushing beyond about to end and decided it was no longer worth it to push beyond what was healthy.
Im sure they have doctors on stand-by sure, but a doctor is gonna tell them the same thing, drop out go home and recharge your batteries. There is no padded room here. Mental Preparedness comes with experience it just doesn’t happen overnight.
Professional Gamer is such a broad term. I can be a professional at anything. Like now I’m a professional troll. Does that mean I also need to have a doctor on stand-by? Look everyone! I’m a Professional Magician!!! Watch me make this rabbit disappear and then I just rip the fur off of it. Do I need Professional Help? No.
You do not understand what others are going through in their head. Stop pretending like you do.
Having to acknowledge you’re about to lose a race you had a significant advantage in is now a mental health concern? That’s literally what it was. They were having a blast when they were winning and soured when they were losing. Echo looked borderline suicidal until they took the lead then their morale shot up while Limit’s dropped.
I have watched their previous preparation for RWF, and they bring professionals to assist them.
Curiously, no mental health professional to assist them even though they knew and know how much they immerse themselves in the game.
Maximum even said that he lost between 15-20 pounds every RWF because of how disconnected from the life he gets while immersed in the game.
Echo always shows how they take care of their raiders and the staff they bring in, making sure the raiders take the necessary stops and rest so they don’t get exhausted.
It is a pretty fair assessment to say that, if Liquid really reached their Limit (pun intended lol), they haven’t prepared well for the race. Otherwise, it just looks like they didn’t want to keep spending money they wouldn’t get anymore for not being #1 from the sponsors and decide to go home anyway, which they did.
If you are a professional gamer, with sponsor, a person that makes the living out of the game, you probably want to make sure that you are assisted.
How in the world did you get that from what I said?
I will try to make it easier to digest.
We feel like crap but we just have to push through to finish this thing first.
We aren’t going to finish first so it is no longer worth it to make ourselves feel like crap.
Nothing I said implied, even a little bit, that admitting defeat was a mental health issue.
Except then it’s actually indefensible. You can’t really dispute IRL obligations kicking them when that was very clearly shown with having to find a new hotel mid race because of how long it took. Nobody in their right mind is going to badmouth someone for prioritizing their real life obligations, especially like work needing to be returned to, at most they could argue sports organizations should be employing the raiders so that isn’t an issue later.
But thats the thing, the media does it all the time. They will say that Liquid used the RL excuse as a scapegoat to say they lost. Its just a polar opposite
Yeah, I think that Liquid won’t do it for this race for the reason of why they simply left their hq during the competition.
I came off as curious at first because I wonder how much it would take to put it all together and make things like this happen, it is a humongous effort to bring people from different parts of the country, to get in together, spend some quality time together as friends and them start gaming for 16h+ hours a day for days.
Without supporting staff they wouldn’t be able to pull it through. I guess they just need to add more professionals to assist them to make sure they are eating properly and resting well, as well to not underestimate the likelihood of them getting burned out during the competition.
Except here’s the thing. Half the raid disagreed with that move, it’s a lot more mentally damaging to someone to just tell them “You just wasted two weeks of your life to quit right at the end because you were behind.”
Because there really isn’t one visible. I’m sorry but being burnt out isn’t a mental health issue. Being stressed because Blizzard can’t tune a raid correctly and instead hyperinflates the numbers in order to make it last as long as possible isn’t a mental health concern either.
This is about as pathetic as someone having a bad day once a year like everyone and saying “I have recurring depression”, no, you have bad days just as we all do. Or idiots that conflate “random apathy” with “Depression” when these are not the same thing. Or even easier for you, every parent of an eight year old boy that says they have to have ADHD and therefore need medication, no, they’re a friggen kid, they’re prone to having excessive energy that leads to inability to focus, males especially, that’s just nature.
