I’m not exaggerating when I say 80% of groups in the LFG portion of the dungeon finder have one extremely hard carried person at any given time that is so extremely undergeared.
I understand that people have friends and are being nice and trying to run them through dungeons but it’s part of the normal process to grind at least a tiny bit of gear and not being in in greens and low item level blues in a 10.
You could always just make your own group. Or if you don’t have a key you need and game refuses to reroll your key into one, join groups, inspect each member and if you see a player that’s a carry with green/blue gear, leave. It’s that simple.
I’m not gonna say I don’t carry friends, but i do put in note or title that i’m carrying a friend’s alt or a friend period. At least that way people know what they are signing for. Not everyone does that, unfortunately, so you do need to inspect people individually if you wanna avoid playing in a group with carry. If you neglect to inspect others, you asked for it at that point
It’s not just the group leader who has to vet the group. When you join inspect everyone – look at their gear, talents, and m+ score. If you don’t like what you see just drop the group.
If you’re not making the group and didn’t bother to inspect anyone it’s your own fault. You put in the absolute minimum effort and got the minimum result.
10’s literally feel like normal/heroic lfg right now, even more so if you are or have an end game geared healer bro around. So of-course Im going to queue up with my 220 evoker bro to funnel him gear and get him caught up. Most groups we signed up for seemed very happy to invite an overgeared healer - even if there is a 220 ilvl fresh alt in the mix. Had no issues the 2 times I had to make my own groups too for him when it was a slow night. People still sign up - we still get the keys done in time - no one was miserable. My lock bro is pretty smart so he still was pulling a good chunk of dmg, used his healthstones + handed them out, and was generally useful with his lock portal skips.
Sorry you got a few bad groups, but I wouldnt entirely blame the carry for the fail. Chances are there were other issues too and the group just couldnt handle it.
the in-game UI should tell you the IO and item level of all people in the group since players can’t be counted on to be honest and use the “carry offered” option.
The fact that keys can just be listed by the highest IO person to fool people is garbage and needs an overhual
i always figured it meant that there was at least 1 carry in the group. Let’s just be real though; people aren’t going to join that group unless they’re 290+ and just fishing for nebulous rolls.
That makes sense. It is unfortunate that you can’t see the ilvl and io of the group before you sign up to the key. But people should be inspecting everyone once you’re in the group for sure.
And based on my experience pugging mythic sporefall…even if people have high io and ilvl it does not mean they’re good at the game. It’s actually surprising how many people I’ve seen in these raids do very poorly.
