So what about druids…can we open up on people for free as well…since it’s a basic classic ability? Or are rogues the only one who are reliant enough on stealth to need this silly rule.
I really don’t care what you disallow. I will simply not duel you.
It’s not mandatory.
What about Perception? It’s a racial ability to up stealth detection. Since it’s a base ability, why is that banned?
And I don’t care about rogue tears about poor play and getting popped out of stealth. I won’t duel anyone like that either.
Rogue / druid duel is a lot about who finds each other first. So the open thingy doesn’t concern you, a druid.
Why must wPvP be completely in line with dueling…you realize they are ENTIRELY different concepts and situations…
The fact that you agree to /duel, already means that you know it isn’t wPvP
This is my last response to you.
People duel to practice world and BG pvp. (I included BG to world but the I eralized I should also specifically mention it)
Any other reason is silly.
Duels are for fun, not to practice for wPvP. If you want to practice for wPvP with a duel, then feel free but don’t project that idea on everyone who duels.
Of course there are unwritten rules to dueling, don’t be silly. To say that there aren’t, only shows that you have no experience in these matters. I couldn’t care less how you duel and nobody can make you do anything, so you do you. You have my permission. Also, I’d like to point out that I’ve never claimed that everyone should follow these rules, only that it was absurd to not be able to grasp the concept of why a rogue would be allowed to have the opener in a duel.
This is my last response to you.
If you thought duels are for fun you and your retail character wouldn’t be whining about stealth.
Also it’s a game. Everything is for fun.
Well, I don’t duel to practice for wPvP…I do it to duel. But go ahead and assume that’s what everyone duels for I guess…
I play Classic, but have been posting on this toon for years and that isn’t going to change anytime soon. And the rogues are the ones whining about stealth…that’s why this thread exists in the first place.
But yeah. Good job. Posting on a Retail toon in a Classic thread, you sure showed me my place huh?
As for fun…”People duel to practice world PvP. Any other reason is silly.” The majority of people I’ve seen dueling in Retail and Classic do it because they think dueling is fun, for many dueling is the only PvP they do. The definition of fun is subjective and just because you find it silly that not everyone who duels cares for wPvP or BGs doesn’t mean it’s not fun for many others.
I didn’t read the entire wall of posts here. What about after the rogue gets the opener and then vanishes. Does he/she get a second free opener?
I assure you the reason this rule was made is because rogues were not having fun getting their stealth broken—go tell them that.
Hahaha totally!!
Then how do a hunter and rogue duel? Does the hunter get 20 yards but lets a rogue open on them?
Also what changed that this wasnt the ‘gentlemen rules’ from TBC onwards? Or has been this way always? Thanks
There aren’t really any rules set in stone, unless it’s a dueling tournament. In the case of 2 classes with opener weaknesses, it’s no rules since they cancel each other out. The hunter can flare to break stealth, but the rogue is going to be in their deadzone. Warriors should generally be allowed to charge a hunter because they’re going to charge right into a freezing trap and the hunter can get distance. The whole point of a warrior being allowed to charge is for the rage. If a warrior starts the duel with no rage against a hunter, it’s a 100% win for the hunter since warriors are at a disadvantage already.
Great question…does a rogue get the free-opener in TBC, even with Shadowstep and Cloak?
I Don’t care about winning a friendly duel. I care about embarrassing you in the worst way possible publicly.
There are no rules in duels. It’s idiotic to allow a Rogue to open on you, especially with no trinket available atm.
Consumables are fair game too. Don’t gimp yourself because the other player is cheap.
Tournaments are different as they have predetermined rules.
Yeah but if rogues are supposed to get the opener, and warriors are supposed to get the charge… who gets the opener in Warrior Vs Rogue?
