[RP: Storyline] "Into Madness" (The Sunreavers)

Archmage Sunreaver.

We are returned to Dalaran, from several days of being shipwrecked in Kul Tiras. The three Sunreaver vessels deployed to confront the enemy fleet were destroyed. While most of the crew were able to escape to Dalaran through the evacuation portal, I am sad to report than Captain Sunrunner, of the Crimson Dawn, died in the line of duty.

Travelling through that very portal, I ended up into the ocean, floating among the debris of both Sunreaver, and human ships. I was able to swim to shore, and took cover into the dark forests. For two days, at night, I travelled until I found our unit, hold up in a cave.

A dark magic prevented the conjuring of portals, and affected our ability to spellcast efficiently. As a group, we scouted the land and looked for the source of this magic. We eventually did, and found Aeneris Sunbreeze, of the Blazing Sunhawks, held captive in a shack.

While she claimed to have been captured by the Witch, she eventually revealed that she was, in fact, the witch. A Skinwalker druid, she had captured and killed Sunbreeze many weeks ago, in order to assume her form. It seems she hexed the artifacts, infiltrated the crew of the Sunhawks and helped spread the Madness throughout Quel’Thalas.

It is safe to assume other Skinwalkers are out there, doing the same in lands across Azeroth.

What happened next was fascinating, but I will explain that in a more private meeting. Suffice it to say, she was taken into custody, and no longer proses a threat. We have locked her up in the Violet Hold.

We also found the details of the spellwork used to hex the artifacts, and know how to destroy them, lift the curse and stop this magical plague. Once we have taken care of things here, we shall travel to Silvermoon and instruct the Farstriders on how to proceed.

Into Madness: Epilogue

Once the Sunreavers returned to Dalaran, things happened swiftly and efficiently.

The Skinwalker, frail and decrepit, was escorted to the Violet Hold without incident. A small cell was prepared, with heavy enchantments locking away the enemy. They would stand trial, before a tribunal of the Kirin Tor, and most certainly be locked up. They would also likely be studied, using magical means, to better understand the nature of the enemy, and any future threat to the living.

Back in the Chamber of the Guardians, the artifacts that had been collected weeks ago and kept under guard were destroyed. Just like in Kul Tiras, the entrapped souls within were free’d, and faded away, a look of relief on their faces, as they phased back into the Shadowlands, or wherever it was these souls would go.

The Sunreavers were invited to witness this, and several Archmagi of the Kirin Tor were also present, including Archmage Sunreaver himself, who beamed with pride at what his followers had accomplished.

Units of Sunreavers were asked to report to Silvermoon, accompanying the Archmage as he reported to the Regent-Lord and explained the story. Ranger-General Brightwing dispatched units of Farstriders to the infected villages and towns, and all artifacts were found and destroyed. This lifted the hex immediately, and all mad villagers quickly rediscovered their sanity. While many were lost to the violence that had ensued, many were saved, and the kingdom could breath easier for it.

Magister Sungazer invited his unit to remain in Silvermoon and enjoy some much deserved down time. As the group had come so close to dying, it was important they take the time to celebrate life. As it so happened, this time of the year marked the anniversary of his own promotion to Magister, and the formation of his unit. While the group was in Silvermoon, they would enjoy a well deserved celebration.

While the threat of spreading Madness was now abated, the Kirin Tor decided to keep their Dalaran portals sealed for the time being. This had exposed how quickly disaster could spread, and once again the Kirin Tor were reminded of how important it was to be ever vigilant when it came to magic and its use. The portals to Orgrimmar and Stormwind would remain open, yet under guard, as would the Violet Gate, the point of entry of magi from all walks of life. It was rumoured that the magi or Orgrimmar and Stormwind had relocated all of their portals to a single chamber, which was also very much kept under watch and guard.

The Sunreavers had returned from another dangerous mission, and Azeroth was safer for their success. Many would never learn of what had happened, or understand what it all meant. There were new threats emerging all the time. Common citizens were protected by devoted champions, risking it all to safeguard the lives of Azeroth. Soon, they would return to duty, and tackle the next challenge. But for now… they were free to roam the streets of Silvermoon, wearing their tabards proud in the knowledge of what they had accomplished.

The End

So, we were just wondering:

Did anyone enjoy reading this thread? Did anyone come back to it?

Did anyone use anything that was in here for their own RP/headcanon?

Should we create a thread like this for our next storyline?

Asking for an alt.

I found the RP storyline not only entertaining, but refreshing. Posting your stories to the forums gave me a greater sense of who the Sunreavers are and the characters behind them.

I enjoy collaborative story-telling that evolves from RP and I found it inspirational in the development of my own character’s backstory.

I would absolutely create another thread like this and I hope it encourages others to do the same.

Jaidin, thanks for your feedback! It has inspired me to do another thread when our next storyline commences.

On another note, our group really enjoyed role-playing with you last night! Hope to see you around again.
