[Rp Story] Words from the Earth Mother?

Many legends of the shu’halo have not been recorded to books. It is my hope that I, Tanahrok Spirit Talker of the Firetotem to share the stories of the past as told by the ancestors to give to the future.

Long ago when the kolkar were beginning their feud with the shu’halo, a tribe coast travelers lived in the ever rocky cliffs of Poona’chea or known to the knife ears, Azshara. The tribe known as the Waterstriders lead by Ulon (or “Rock” in orcish) one of the youngest in the tribe while playing near the sandy waters found a odd horn just barely sticking out of the sand.

The little one brought it to Ulon who looked at the horn that was covered and wrapped in ancient dried husks of wheat. the wheat based on the looks should have fallen apart or at the very least brought down to just its base straw.

Thinking to himself. “This horn seems strange…”

“My horn is not strange…” it replied to him. Ulon was in shock and looked around to where the voice was coming from. the others did not seem to notice.

The horn spoke but only to ones who held it. the voice spoke and said they were the great mother. the shu’halo were in amazement now they could hear the great mother speak to them. they gave praise to the horn and treated it as a great object. when it comes time for the next gathering of the tribes in mulgore they would show all the tribes the earth mother was great and real.

As they showed praise to the horn the earth mother offered up knowledge and shared bounty with the tribe as they also gave up some of their bounty to her and wasted nothing. The earth mother was pleased by this.

On the way to the south where they would begin their journey to the ancestral lands of shu’halo. they came across another one of the shu’halo’s bitter rivals of the land. the Onak’ra (Quill boar in orcish), they often allowed the waterstriders pass when they give up most of their food. on this trip however they see the horn…

The onak’ra were not happy and believed they killed their kin and hold onto a horn of there people as a trophy. they attacked. Ulon who was carrier of the horn begged the earth mother for help. but she could not, she offered her strength as best as she could. Ulon was strong and managed to get most of the tribe away before they lost more…

by the time it was done Ulon noticed…

The horn of the earth mother… its gone! he wept. for this loss was great. not only did they lose family to the Onak’ra. but now they lost their connection to the earth mother. it was a great pain in his heart that he would not speak to her again. Still they migrated, ever retracing their steps in hopes to one day find the voice of the earth mother again.

Waterstrider tribe lived mostly on the coasts of Kalimdor, they are a hearty people and masters of making Canoes. A single canoe would last you three generations and are often revered for their fishing skills as well.
