Rotation bug is getting INSANE

This has to stop, for the love of god. At least once a week I come into my house and the exact same 3 or 4 decor items are rotated to a different direction. It’s the SAME things in the SAME place every time for some reason. I’ve tried everything to fix this. I’ve heard hearthing out from your house causes it, so I don’t do that.

I’ve removed the decor and placed it back and the bug happens again. Just for reference it’s a couple of square rugs that I use for wallpaper and then also for some reason the Kareshi tome. I use the tome as a PC tower, but almost every time I enter my “bedroom” it’s crooked again.

Does anyone else have this sinking feeling that one day you’re gonna go into your house and everything is all messed up and hundreds of hours of work just goes down the drain? It’s so messed up.

Put them at 89 degrees instead of exactly 90. Or 271 instead of 270.

I’ll give that a shot, thanks!

Honestly, it makes me mad reading the same “workarounds” over and over again. Most of the time those doesn’t even work.

It’s not our job to find workarounds to the game’s bugs. It’s our job to raise our voices and demand that Blizzard fixes the bugs as soon as possible. If we use weird workaround, why should Blizzard even bother to fix anything?

No matter how many times you reply to me saying that, it won’t change the fact that not a single item I’ve placed that way has moved on me since February.

Neither has a single item that I’ve fixed since placing them after 12.1, when I briefly stopped taking that precaution. (and by “fixed” I mean completely removing and replacing)

If it doesn’t work for other people, that’s unfortunate, but the last thing I want is people getting frustrated and giving up when this option is available and has worked for others. And telling them about this doesn’t mean that they should stop reporting the issue, or that the devs should stop trying to resolve it.

For me saving, deleting, then loading back in rooms has fixed my rotation issues. Not why I did the saving and loading, but it was a nice byproduct.

Maybe I’m blessed or you are cursed, but I don’t see it. I put down things in my house every day and when I come back, they are still there.

I won’t deny that I read massive frustration in these fine forums, it IS happening. But not to me.

I’ve not had this bug for ages, til I moved plots a few days ago and built a new exterior, now the same few items constantly rotate, I’ve tried a bunch of workarounds, its as if they have a particular position that is more important to adhere to than the one I put it in. I replaced them with different items entirely and those don’t rotate.

I had an issue inside as well, I pasted down a blueprint and after a day one item rotated, I expect it to continue doing that now, nothing I have done has ever fixed a rotating piece bar replacing it with something else.

To be fair, out of the thousands of items in my house, it’s only ever a handful of things. I’m not sure what’s weirder lol

Both perfectly valid

There will never be a fix, it’s just the way the system was designed to save on server load. Your home is an empty void when no one is there, when someone comes in range of the exterior or goes inside the game reloads all the decor and placement from stored memory every time.

The exterior is more likely to move as it’s proximity based, and people flying in at high speeds doesn’t give the game ample time to make that load seamless, but it does the job. If it could load properly, you would see a lot of empty plots suddenly materialize in front of you not already be there as you approach them.

The interior is based on the instance loading time, for it to properly load the decor in place you would see a longer load, but players would complain that their home is taking too long to transition. It’s a sacrifice for adequate loading screen time. It’s only going to get worse the bigger the interior gets and more decor and rooms are added.

For the most part it works and anything that is snapped in place seems to not be affected, custom placed decor is. There are workarounds I’ve been toying with, but they don’t work in every situation. You notice the ones that move are always the same ones, everything else in close proximity are unaffected.

  1. If certain custom placed decor are the ones moving, snap them in place then custom build around that. Don’t move that piece, move other stuff around it to get the same outcome.
  2. Snap in place the decor to another decor’s flat surface so it sticks when you move the other surface. Now whatever is snap locked will move with that surface, you adjust it with that surface rather than the decor on top of it.
  3. Try placing the setup in another location within the room. Don’t just move the room somewhere else, build test locations with duplicate builds and see if they all repeat the same problem. Areas that don’t move you can think of them as “sweet spots” then build around there.

Today the default exit door inside my house, that I’ve never moved a millimeter, rotated on it’s own.

I feel your pain. It’s always something. Constantly. The latest is that one of two blueprints I acquired (the only two i crossed my fingers the builders would part with) went in fairly well, only two items missing, which I remedied. I leave my house for 30 min and the deck has shifted. So sick of Blizz’ inability to fix this issue.

You have poltergeist. I would call a professional to fumigate the property.

Nah, it’s moving on its own due to all the exploding contraptions in the house. That’s a feature, not a bug with Gnomish houses.

All joking aside, I have one wall rock in my mine underground that always has to move outwards whenever I come home. Must have fixed it half a dozen times. That could be a poltergeist. Or Troggs. Better see if I can fix it with your suggestions before the Troggs come pouring out.

yes! I have lost lots of momentum doing my first house.

One room…just one: 3 carpets rotated to recolor the walls and they go wonky after logging out/in. (doesn’t matter if I am in the house when I log out or Silvermoon or wherever)

I took quite a bit of time before diving into housing here, as I’ve been a crazy deco person in other games (/wave FF14, sorry I left) But once I started recently…I have been hooked!!

That was until my wall of items started turning. omg. I all but threw in the towel but after reading the forums knew I wasn’t alone.

The big ask? For Blizz to FIX this!!! It is ruining your otherwise very detailed new feature!! I cannot waste days of work only to have it shift arbitrarily ….totally not cool and something I would have to walk away from. blah. have waited for housing foreverrrrrr. and…now this. :frowning:

Hear, hear! I have about a dozen items in my house that shift drastically, killing the esthetic. I’ve tried the workarounds of placing an item slightly off a perfect 45° angle and it only worked for a few items, not all. I’ve also noticed it’s not hearthing from the house but ANYtime you leave your house requiring a new load-up screen.

There’s also a funny transmog bug whereby I click a ‘mog to wear it, and if I click another one a few seconds soon after, it exposes half of my actual gear. I know it’s not the same thing, but there’s something about the visuals in both cases where they sort of reset or shift against what our intent is.

It’s been a problem since public launch on December 2nd that I’ve noticed. Nearly 10 months later, if it hasn’t been something they can fix, it’s obviously seriously clashing with some other programming and it can’t be an easy fix.

I’ve gotten in the habit now that if anyone comes over, I have to straighten it up first. Sort of like real life, I guess.

the new tiles don’t play by these rules.

or the runed placards.

A placard I put down as a console frame right after the patch moved on me initially. But it’s stayed in place since I deleted and replaced it and adjusted the angle.

I’m curious if people are trying to adjust items that have already started to move (rather than replacing them) and that’s why the workaround isn’t working for them?

I haven’t messed with the tiles much. Fortunately, they have both horizontal and vertical versions, so it should theoretically be easier to avoid this in the first place.

This bug drives me nuts. I wanted to change the colour of the walls in my house using carpets and some floor tiles. Easy enough, I thought. Applied them to the walls, and it looked wonderful. Come back later and some are broken. I try the fixes I hear of to try and remedy the problem and manage to iron out some of the problem areas. I think to myself that was annoying, but at least it is done with. Come back the next day and new areas are starting to act up. I just gave up.

Is this a problem because this was something WoW was never designed in mind to do? Because it is not a normal game housing thing. I have played many a game with housing, and they all managed to remember where I placed items. In a game mode designed around building and being creative, it kinda feels bad when the things you spend hours designing can just shift through no fault of your own. :frowning:

This is why I’m completely done with housing for good. This has been nothing but a fat joke, no matter what anyone says otherwise. Sadly, this bug will continue on for many years to come considering how there are thousand of bugs/glitches that still hasnt been fixed since BC due to broken spaghetti codes so why bother with housing anyways?

P.S. Blizz cannot fix this and will not.
