I only need on upgrades for the role I’m fulfilling for the group.
It isn’t like there is is a bunch of plate armor out there that is useless for tanking though (and still warrior dps stuff), so I don’t see it being much of an issue for you other than 2 handers.
If I was a 2 hand using dps and a warrior tank needed over me @lvl 60 content I wouldn’t be happy.
My philosophy has always been roll need on your main spec if it’s an upgrade. If it’s an offspec ask the group before rolling if others are ok with you rolling on it.
Just rolling need for main and off spec every dungeon with no consideration for others gearing their main spec is just selfish.
So glad many of you aren’t in my groups. Really messed up to roll for gear that is your off spec. If a BoE mace drops I’m just going to say “hay guyz gonna maybe make a dps war one day so gonna Need roll this for my future char kkkk”
Your comparing an illegitimate private WoW server to a blizzard Vanilla “recreation” server. Neither perfectly represent what Vanilla was actually like.
But you’re an idiot if you think private server etiquette is the same as live servers. No one is “making up rules” when it’s been long established for a very long time. I’m sorry if no one cares about loot on your Private servers, it’s probably because those garbage servers can disappear at any given moment with no notice so no one really cares.
Generally you role on the spec you are playing, if you are Tank you get Need on Tank Gear, then greed otherwise. If you DPS same thing.
What i used to do, if i was dpsing and not tanking, clarify if tank needs - if not then roll the need for your offset.
Telling the group ahead of time would be the best thing to do.
If you are forming the group yourself as the Tank, cause sometimes its easier to find DPS and Heals than it is to find a Tank, Then you should inform the Group “Im tanking but i only need DPS gear.” or something of the such.
I’d definitely do this, tell your group ahead of time.
Ran SFK w/ a druid tank on my mage along w/ my wife’s priest, and the bear was needing on pretty much everything, including the caster shoulders and robes.
My wife was pretty pissed, which probably could have been avoided if they had just mentioned beforehand that they were going to be needing on both tank gear and caster cloth.
I agree with idea that if you’re tanking but you want to roll on dps or healing gear just tell the group at the start. Conversely if someone is dpsing or healing and they want to build up their tank set they should do the same.
Dude it’s open season the amount of healers that have no qualms rolling on caster dps gear is insane. It’s not worth it trying to constrain people, roll need on what you want and pray the loot gods are kind.
If you’re tanking to get faster groups but trying to farm other gear and also rolling on tank gear and specifically announce that at the beginning I think that’s fine.
Only bad thing in my opinion is when people roll on things that aren’t good for them or is another person’s BiS and you roll on it because It’s a slight upgrade but not your BiS.
I tank to find groups easier and roll on healing gear. Just say you’re going to at the start of the run. As a Warrior tank going for DPS gear I doubt you’ll have many issues, if a rogue/DPS warrior isn’t okay with it it isn’t hard to find another DPS who doesn’t care.
Rule of thumb is to roll for your role. If there’s someone already tanking in your group then they get priority. The best workaround is to form your own group and only pick the comp that won’t need the same gear as you.
Yup. I’m convinced it’s JAB starting all of these loot threads.
You’re a tank that is willing to start and lead the group. It’s your group. Your rules. Just make them clear at the start of the run. Try stacking the group with classes you won’t have to roll against.
You’re in complete control, if you want to be. Find others who agree to join. Take advantage of it.
