I did a battle pet quest in Undermine earlier- itās a Goblin named Creech and all he has are three croaches lol.
It was an easy battle.
You have my sympathy but Iām afraid that roaches laugh at us (in their buggy way) because they have been around for over 300 million years. We havenāt.
Fossil evidence shows them being around as far backas the Carboniferous period of the Paleozoic Era. This was the point where the coal we argue about today was still living plants.

I suffer from inverse arachnophobia, and am terrified of everything that isnāt spiders. Please allow an option in the game to replace all mobs, NPCs, player models, furniture, buildings, plants, ground and skyboxes with spiders.

Excuse you. I will have you know that Gnomeregan is very much roach free.
ā¦One may argue it is also everything free. That is a more fair assessment.
And, I will have you know, they are very clean roaches. Goblin roaches are not. They come from waste.

People donāt need filters to protect them from their irrational fears.
Iām afraid of real-life tornadoes, but not pixel tornadoes.
If I ever saw a tornado in game, I would jump in it with my parasol and go wheee! and float down safely.

I have roach pets from Undercity, personally, I think we should just roll up the roaches and smoke them, but all of you took this in a different direction

Itās different though.
Thereās rational fear, and then there are phobias, irrational fears.
Iām scared of jaguars because they can easily tear me to shreds and I live in Brazil where thereās a non-zero probability of my running into a wild jaguar. If I ever meet a Jaguar, thereās nothing I can do. Iām dead.
But Iām fine with video game jaguars because I know they offer me no danger. Itās just a game.
On the other hand I have a phobia of roaches even though they offer me no danger. It doesnāt matter if itās a real or video game roach, they give me a fight-or-flight reaction. Itās an irrational fear. No amount of rational thinking makes it better.
I have an old friend with a huge phobia of snakes.
He canāt even watch videos of snakes without having immediate reactions of disgust and overall being uncomfortable.
I remember, we went somewhere camping or something and someone found a snake- he became pale like a ghost and got the hell out of there, lol. He ran.
I feel for folks that have phobias.
I donāt really have any, just typical fear of heights and deep water, but even then I can temper those fears if necessary.
Iāve enjoyed myself on boats and have climbed mountains, so the fear doesnāt do much for me unless I legit feel unsafe.
Honestly, I feel I should be afraid of more- my lack of fear is probably more dangerous lol.

Itās funny, in game I see bees and Iām just like whatever, but in real life? Iām terrified of bees, wasps, hornets, anything with a giant stinger and flies.
I have no reason to be: I think Iāve only been stung like, twice in my life. But I just get downright terrified of them if they get close.

Roaches in Undermine almost as bad as the Orcs in Durotar
Their resilience and longevity as a species doesnāt take away from the fact that an individual cockroachesā life is probably pretty miserable since they are almost always in a hostile environment which is made worse by the repulsion many of us have toward them.
Itās just the sad reality that our concern for other organisms is highly dependent on how they look which is illustrated by our radically different treatment of similar rodents like squirrels and rats. Even our treatment of other humans is highly based on looks. If youāre beautiful people will tolerate much more BS from you than if you are not.
Yeah I was talking with one yesterday, heās pretty sad about the whole situation and he says the big thing for him is not having a phone, that really makes life very hard for him.
He says whatās the point of surviving the apocalypse if everyone hates you and you have no phone, right?
