Make it so below level 58 can’t send mail to people not on their mutual friends list or in their guild. That way Blizzard will want to do it so they can make money, and it will cost these spammers to spam your inbox.
I’ve noticed that when I use the ‘report spam’ button from TSM, that mail seems to return when log back in or (maybe it’s a time thing), but when I flip to the games defaul mail frame, the message seems to go away more permanently.
If, by some chance you’re using TSM or a different addon for a mailbox interface, try using the default mailbox frame; you’ll maybe have better luck being rid of those spams more successfully.
Back in 2007 that free copper was a hack to CoD a copper back to the sender.
Lets be able to block account wide not just a block on a single character.
Here’s a thought… add an easy mark as spam button that auto-deletes the mail and triggers a notification to GMs (WHICH WILL NEED TO BE HIRED) who trace the mail, ban the account / IP / MAC immediately if possible.
Do this enough times and deter gold sellers, as having to pay a sub to make an account that gets removed the same day will turn out to not be very profitable… in doing so, you protect your games integrity and gain back respect of players… thereby increasing wider sub-count.
Crazy revolutionary principle I know, never been done before by a business or anything.
This right here is what I want. Facebook just implemented a system for groups that when they ban someone, they can prevent new accounts from that banned person now from ever joining in the future. That is what we need when we block a RMT in my opinion.
I got the global ignore add on and it seems to be working. I am getting new names to ignore, which is kind of funny, but at least the ones I put on my global ignore do not show up again.
Remember when the Blizzard name meant Quality?
Yeah, neither do I, it was too long ago
Blizzard, do not ignore this topic.
Everyone needs to get friends to post here as well so we can raise awareness that this is a TOS violation and Blizzard needs to do something.
Yeah, the fact that reporting the RMT mails actually gives the RMT mails twice the coverage they would have if I just deleted them? It’s a joke. Blizzard are useless.
Seriously, who in their right mind coded this stuff? So I get RMT spam, I report it, then an hour later I see it again because reporting it only temporarily hid it? So now the RMT advertisement has had twice the coverage.
It’s like Blizzard is promoting them. Seriously.
Confirming this problem. I’ve been getting spammed through the mailbox ever since week 3’ish of BC.
Sounds more like what management does. Pit the people against each other to not get you to look at them.
A very often used tactic sadly.
LOOK AT WHAT THAT GUY IS DOING OVER THERE!
Does a bunch of shady crap over here
If people are fighting each other they can’t fight you.
+1 . Blizzard, get your in-game house in order, as well.
I like receiving mail, especially when it’s free $$
When you report the mail, it doesn’t even delete it. It comes straight back the next day.
i recently filed a ticket about this! the fact that you have to deal with the spam twice drives me nuts! no good reason for it! either delete the mail when it is “reported” or leave it there so i can delete / return it myself! the fact i have to deal with it again when i log in is inexcusable! not inexcusable in the way that its a massive burden on myself or others, but inexcusable in that this could very easily be dealt with on their end but it isn’t!
I agree with this. At least DELETE it when we report it, not give it back to us! {Also don’t return it yourself, who knows if their stupid auto-algorithm will ban you on the off-chance for associating with a RMT with all this current stuff}. I filed a ticket a month ago and this forum post is basically what they told me to do. Honestly, if enough people complain then someone should step in, or so we hope, right?
bump for OP
I am using the add on Global Ignore. It works fine, ignores the sender and I do not get mail from that one. But I do get mail from new ones. It is time for Blizzard to really go after these people who are abusing the system.
