Rise of Azshara Experiences So Far

Its the same old thing? For me, I want Blizzard to move away from this world quest/faction grind obsession its been on since Legion. Its like that’s the only idea you guys have now. Its tired old gameplay. There are other mmorpgs out there that are doing well that don’t need this tripe.

I will say the new zones look amazing. Credit to your graphics designers.

Umm dailies only give 50-75 rep per completion, Some of the rares don’t even give rep or even satisfying loot to even justify killing them. The Nazjatar zone is too much of a headache to navigate on foot and not to mention the amount of people with flying that just swoop in and kill things before your able to make an inch towards it. I am making myself grind out the rep because im bored but its not enjoyable at this point. After you have flying there is literally no reason to go back to either one of these zones and thats one thing that is troubling me. I quit the game for 8 months and come back to it still in the same mess i left it in and doesn’t show any signs of changing for the better. If i didnt have friends that played this i wouldn’t touch this game.

Having alts this xpac was already tedious enough, 8.2 just made it even worse than it already was.

I also want to add this as its very important. You need to stop pushing so hard on creating content that is intentionally meant to slow people down.

We all know Blizzard is a business and needs to retain players. But you retain players by balancing time sinks with fun content. It cannot just be all time sinks because people will quit out of frustration and boredom.

I am sure your shareholders are beating you over the head with “maximize time sinks at all costs!!!” Unfortunately I doubt they are gamers, and they probably do not understand that people play games to HAVE FUN.

Ask yourself this Bornakk and WoW devs. Do you yourself truly enjoy playing this content? Did you design it with fun first in mind? Is the ride fun to you? I doubt it. Its all about the rewards currently, and its painfully obvious that you are maximizing the time to get those rewards.

This is the mindset of an online casino, not a mmorpg.

I absolutely love my new gnome heritage armor. Very nicely done! Mechagon seems neat so far. Nazjatar is a giant punch to the groin. As others have said, getting from point A to point B is a real pain. The zone is more annoying than fun. I do appreciate the samurai fish friends though!

I find Mechagon even less tolerable. I find the zone’s theme and art style are just grating.

Mechagon had been fun for being a true grind zone with specific loot for crafting items and jetpacks.

I wish that I could have a device like Pascal to craft everything and make grinding for rare/exotic materials worth while. Then I could craft some god tier item with scaled stats of I found a hilt with +10 whatever.

But I’d need to farm specific mobs for it all. And then jet packs. Oh how I love these. Shows how much this game needs flying without stupid Pathfinder and how it needs to be on at 7.0, 8.0, 9.0…
Etc

I was just beginning to enjoy the game when I got flying, but then had a minor tiff with some guildies, and that made me want to quit again lucky one of my best friends agreed to become officer in guild to help out and she encouraged me to stay.

Flying makes a lot of difference for me I think, the game in itself is fine at the moment.

I’m at the point where I’m doing less.

Mechagon: I loved the dungeon. Had a lot of fun. The zone itself, I just show up once a day to do the daily that gives the galvanic oscillator, farm chests (to try and GET galvanic oscillators), craft a 420 ring/trinket, and that’s it. The other stuff PASCAL makes doesn’t make for repeatable content for me. Farming the rares past the first kill and/or getting the few recipes I want doesn’t appeal to me.

Nazjatar: I do the 3 bodyguard missions daily (on 2 toons if I can stand it), do anything that awards mana pearls, farm some rares, I’ll do a Naga Commander if it happens to pop while I’m flying around, and that’s about it. The raid is fun so far.

There’s little of a true repeat-factor for me in these zones … which I THOUGHT 8.2 was supposed to be about.

Going in them feels more like “chores” than “I want to do this content because it’s fun” but I re-subbed so I guess they got me.

Mount equipment is annoying. If you pick water walking then all your mounts can waterwalk which you don’t need. If you swap it for something different, then even your water strider sinks like a rock. I did a lot of grinding to get the water strider, and now it’s all or nothing for water walking which makes it not worth keeping. Feels bad man.

I also hate how some of the rares I need are on ridiculous cooldowns or are broken cough Avarius cough and it isn’t even being acknowledged that he’s broken. It’s the only rare that drops the new mining patterns.

Overall I do like the patch.

8.2 is better than 8.whatever, but that’s not saying a lot. At this point all I feel is apathy for BfA. I just can’t care about chasing:

  • essences that will be pointless in 9.0
  • minuscule gear increases if I’m lucky or grind my face off.
  • mounts no. 600-700
  • pets no. 600-700

The story is dragging. Hard to keep interested when you get 2 mins of story every other week. And half (or more) of the story you never see unless you play both factions. I have to watch most of it on Youtube. Azshara was ‘dead’ before our raid group even entered it on that first Thursday.

Once I get flying (~4k more Rustbolt Rep) maybe it will make leveling my alts not be such a chore. Just want to get them from 110 to 120. Don’t even care about gear.

Nazjatar bodyguards are annoying. Always in the way of clicking on things and NEVER SHUT UP. Thank God I don’t care about the sideways walking crab mount!

All the junk you have to collect on Mechagon; there’s too much. My bags are full. Half that stuff could have been treated like Apexis Crystals and put under your currency page. Or for once… Blizz could have not loaded every mob with useless vendor trash gray items. Seriously, why are gray vendor trash still in the game? Just up the gold a mob drops to make up for it and save yourself the hassle of a huge drop table of useless crap no one pays any attention to.

Professions are still a joke, my main is still at 85 in Enchanting. And if it takes 3-5kg worth of mats per point to level up, that’s insane. Again, why bother when it’s all going to be pointless the instant 9.0 launches? Professions ‘reset’ each Expansion to be ‘newbie friendly’. Well, you killed them for the current players, so GJ. I used to enjoy professions. Its half the reason why I made so many alts.

AND… all the Youtube people talk about is the next expansion. Hard to care about BfA when everyone’s already burying it under hopes for 9.0.

Back again for an update, I finally got to revered in Nazjatar! It was a ‘yes!’ moment not because it got me close to exalted but instead that I do not need to touch that zone now. Unless I want to go back to get pets/mounts/pearls.

I am still missing what is fun about Mechagon(Everyone keeps saying it is more fun then Nazjatar, someone help me find the fun). Building things is ok but the perks given for doing so just makes me keep spare parts. People call out rares less now in general chat now that flying is unlocked for some (still working on it myself). Some of the story quests are a bit, well not very descriptive so I am not really invested in the zone story wise. Bag space is still very much an issue, I wish some of these items were put in the currency tab.

Now I got flight my time in game has increased a lot flying on my own dang mount from world quest to world quest is way more relaxing then taking some lame flight path.

8.2 finally is fun for me to play.

I just wish they had an actually 10 man raid setting. Some fights do not scale well to smaller groups.

I just cancelled my recurring sub. I bought a token for another month, but that’s because the gold is worthless if I unsub for good.

The deal breaker was the new raid. For some reason, my computer is not handling it well, and my dps is suffering. Being low on the dps meters is not fun, and without raiding I find there’s nothing in this patch that is at all compelling or interesting to play. At least I can quit without feeling guilty about letting down guild mates, as with my dps suffering my best contribution would be to bench myself.

Things I hate:

  1. Warmode in 2 small zones. Good god.
  2. The PvP event triggering with noticeable imbalances still. Still 3000 to sub 100 wins/losses.
  3. Companions love to keep you in combat way to long in PvP. They need a follow command.

Other than that is has been fun.

Nazjatar isn’t a small zone.

Still one of the worst patches ever. As I thought , in a months time the new zones are pretty lifeless . The grind was pointless and unrewarding. Guilds I am in are as dead as ever . I mean it looks pretty on the outside but there is no depth to anything. and the new raid is just dull and annoying packed with mobs that are just there to keep you logged in longer and the bosses have very annoying voice acting .

I was going to quit if I didn’t get flying by 15th July, but then I got my flying on 12th July, so decided to stay.

I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I already had flying. I just wanted to rush through everything (and I did) just so I could FINALLY fly. Once I got flying I said to myself “this is so much better…WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO UNLOCK???”

It’s the opposite of a good feeling. Want engagement? Make good content and let us fly. It was never a problem until you guys made it a problem in WoD.
