That’s what I love with FFXIV. You can be any class you want with just one character simply by switching your weapon. It’s so awesome. I also love the fates you come across and if you’re too high a level, you can scale yourself to it if you want to participate. Crazy idea… options.
I wish you all would work on making Alliance a more populated faction so WM would be more fun. Instead we get two new small mediocre zones.
I’ve played off and on since 2004 but this is pretty bad.
I do love that about FFXIV. I thought I wanted to be a gladiator, but 15 levels in I just wasn’t feeling it. Instead of having to start a new character, switching to a zippy, flippy rogue was as easy as a trip to Limsa Lominsa and a visit to the rogue’s guild.
Working on my reps and then getting a few mounts before I let my game time lapse again. I hate the bfa systems entirely.
Does anyone feel semi claustrophobic in naz? Like its tiny and packed with mobs. Im sure the whole “walls made of water” and the silly terrain is supposed to make us feel like we are in danger or something dumb like that… But honestly it just feels gross to me.
I’m a bit disappointed in the essences, after all. There was talk about being able to go straight for rank 3, lets say, without having to learn ranks 1 and 2 before it. Aside from reputation vendor essences where you technically can skip buying the rank 1 and move on to rank 2+ this doesn’t seem to be the case.
If they’re tied to a quest, you’re gonna get them in order. If they’re tied to achievements, you’re going to get them in order. If they’re tied to drops off mobs, you’re going to get them in order.
The only loophole and probably what they meant when they said we could earn them out of sequence is that you can have ranks 1-3 of an essence but only choose to empower the Heart with rank 3 … but that’s a far cry from actually being able to go out and earn rank 3 regardless of the previous ranks. I guess we have to admit we got /lawyered on rank acquisition.
I do kinda agree with this.
I’ve been enjoying the zone, not had any of the issues traversing it like others have mentioned. I was disappointed that there’s not been more questlines/story. I would have liked a full list of quest chapters to work through as I quite enjoy those.
Like Lacryma is saying, the zone actually feels more like the starting area for Nazjatar, what would have been great is later on the Gates of the Queen opening into the fully submerged capital city zone(s). Ideally something like 3 like Argus to quest through all underwater. Perhaps one of these zones could have been the full ruins of Zin-Azshari (I love that part of the map) then a much larger more impressive capital city of the Naga as that’s definitely missing at this point. For having been down there for 10,000 years they’ve not built much. Really needs to be a lot more than just the Eternal Palace. Something that rivals the size and scope of Suramar as they were confined by the dome where the Naga could have built beyond that.
Some sort of “storming the gates” raid to end 8.2 and getting access to Nazjatar proper would have been neat. Then 8.3 hits and adds we go into the city and it’s surroundings.
That would have felt more like Nazjatar and a capital city of a race that’s been down there for 10,000 years.
I’ve been enjoying the world quests as well as one can since they’re world quests. I do like having a follower again, but I’m also a bit disappointed we’re limited to 3 ankoan, makes sense for the story, but I wish previous followers played more of a continued role in the story for our classes/characters.
Finally got around to going to Mechagon, so it’s still new to me.
Haven’t had too much difficulty with the mobs but I’m currently questing as Protection as with Legion and BFA, that made survivability much better.
Definitely would have liked Nazjatar being larger and feeling more impressive, especially with as beautiful as the current zone is. I also like the Naga architecture, so a whole city of that to explore and adventure in would have been pretty cool. With the last few cities added (Suramar, Boralus, and Dazar’alor) Nazjatar just doesn’t have that vibe.
I am having fun and keeping myself occupied with 8.2.
Mechagon is just great. I feel like there is a lot to do and a lot to chase after - but also a lot to acquire by simply playing without a targeted grind. I am not a mount or pet collector - yet, it feels like there are neat toys and awards that make the grind interesting. The rocket pack is a boon.
Nazjatar is a bit tedious. It has it’s moments. But when I switch to “grind mode” and focus on knocking out WQs, I just really hate traveling. The mobs aggro from everywhere and chase you forever. I have used many Sea Mist potions and Gliders on my Alts. Luckily my main is a Zandalari Druid. Using the “Gliding Dino Racial” and “Moonkin /flap” make pre-Pathfinder life a bit nicer.
I am at Honored with both Reputations on my Druid. I feel like Pathfinder Part 2 will just happen in a couple weeks of lazy playing. Which is a good feeling.
Overall, 8.2 is great imo, and I am looking forward to the new raid.
Resubbed expecting fun. Instead I got more chores.
Why can’t you just reward rep when doing PVP, M+ etc? Things that are actually challenging and fun?
Daillies don’t offer challenge; they just take(waste) time. Time is precious.
Please blizzard, respect our time. Thank you.
In the beginning Ill admit I wasnt feeling it. Felt more like the same. The mobs hit way too hard. I was being killed comstantly by a bunch of Alliance people. Could barely finish simple quests.
But found the more I played the more stuff happened, the more I liked it. Now Im in a space where Im interested to not only do the two new zones but now finish up the original BFA zones.
I like how exploration is rewarded with hidden quests or other finds. I appreciate the mob difficulty as Im actually dying and spending gold on armor repair. Now I have to think how Im going to travel and forces me to use my entire kit.
I lke Naz more than Mecha but I definitely havent played enough of Mecha. Im a fan on the sandbox like systems so feel I will like it. I love the option of going between the two.
The way the zones are set up allows me to explote and play in a more natural way thats fun. Im not chasing quests for the sake of grinding, Im.building my character slowly in order to defeat Aszhara. The context of the story in relation to what Im doing is much better.
I like the benthic gear but feel getting mana prarls is too slow. I dont wanf instant pearls, dont mind working for them, but the feel scarce now. Maybe that will change over time.
Part of my enjoyment started the minute I turned War Mode off. Its a great idea but poor imolementation. On my server as Horde I was constantly overrun by Alliance. I dont mind an open world scuffle every now and then, but I dislike the beimg ganged up on and killed multiple times when Im trying to do something. I actually got pissed at the players until I realized I dont have to do this. Balance and phasing need fixing.
I would love it if Vim didn’t randomly pull 87 mobs and get me killed constantly.
Everything about BFA is a notch down and step backwards from legion. Unfortunately the new zones haven’t changed that much. I guess it’s hard to top stopping an intergalactic army of super demons looking to burn the world down while swinging GCD free 500k super artifacts and sporting millions of health…
Oh look, another turtle made it to the water, get a shot of that for Facebook… Do you guys not have phones?!
RIP GCD abilities.
I’m pretty happy and look forward to the daily reset.
The thing that worries me is that I feel that I pushed through everything to get to revered for flying and now have seen all the content. Sure, some things will unlock with rep but not much unless it is hidden.
After the grind to revered, I feel like we need another release of new stuff.
So i got flying. Here are some thoughts.
Nazjatar is aweful, until you have flying. After that the zone really wakes up and i find it WAY more beautiful and enjoyable. While on the ground your just running and dodging way too dense mobs/terrain. Its more frustrating and and any one single rock you are looking at is just that a rock. However from the sky you see that rock as part of a mosaic of a zone.
Mechagon… i. Love. This. Zone! Esp after i got the anti-grav pack. I love zooming around killing rares, farming parts and building interesting items. The alternate timeline is an awesome touch! The gadgets and toys, the trinket punch cards that make customizing you character a lot of fun. I will say time gating Operation: Mechagon by two weeks is a jerk move… maybe 1 week but after that i just feel shafted not being able to dive into it.
Overall good patch, i still think pathfinder part 2 is way too much and pathfinder overall is a “take my toys and go home” appraoch from the dev team but i digress.
Update: Thank you so much for releasing 8.2, Shadowbringers is AWESOME so far and has renewed my interest in FFXIV
Playing Bard and I’m having a blast
Subscribed to play the new patch. Put in about 4 hrs and unsubscribing again. The rep grind and world quests just kill everything when the war campaign and other content are locked behind them. Just wanted to get my Tauren heritage armor. Can’t do that without grinding out rep to continue with the war campaign. Moving on to another MMO probably FF.
Well, people do care if you mess up, but if you’re willing to admit your mistakes and are prompt about trying to correct them, people are far more tolerant. So long as you learn from your mistakes and the end result is a better product. Many people will tolerate bumps in the road in such a case.
A man who admits he did the wrong thing gets both sympathy and support as he works to correct things. A man who tries to act like everything is perfect, in spite of the obvious facts tends to garner nothing but scorn.
the mana pearl farm is the exact same thing with the final raid in WoD. farming those crystals to get BoA gear better than normal raids.
The summoned boss thing-you know, the arcanofiend-doesn’t give enough of a reward to make killing it worth the 700G repair bills. A single item that gives you 150 rep is not enough. And, correct me if I’m wrong, is only lootable once a week? NOPE. Not enough, by half. Maybe tone it down a bit? The two times I was there when it spawned, there were fewer than 15 players engaging it. I think you have vastly overestimated the number of players actually after this event.
The looks of both Naz and Mecha are very nice, and that, at least, feels like it fits. I like the tinkering thing-it’s fun to play around with the tech without being an engineer. The jetpack is a decent sub for flying, but I wish it lasted longer. Pocket Sized Computation Device? Probably the most fun part of this patch. More like that, please.
Unrelated to the development team, but can people please tell where rares are when announcing them? Especially those dang drill rigs? Thanks. I mean it’s been what, a week? and people expect everyone to just know the locations already.
