Rise of Azshara Experiences So Far

Again, I want to stress how much better this essence system would be if I could do everything account bound.

I have a few friends who still play alliance and the other night I went on my rouge, we had a lot of fun running around and doing world pvp, but as always, it was horrible feeling to not be getting any benefit on my other chars’ essences.

Today, they wanted to do BGs as Alliance again, but as Horde Main, I was doing BGs on my Horde.

It does not feel good to be forced to play one class still this late in the game’s life span. Alts are continuously an issue and I’m not sure why this continues.

Also, I wanted to play my DK as frost now that there is a new patch and new essences, but I still cannot purchase PvP weapons from a vendor. I cannot play a spec I want to play/try out because I have no weapons to do so, again this feels horrible. I don’t even have the option “tough out” a few BGs as unholy or Blood to save up enough honor to buy some weapons. (PvE can target an instance or bonus roll LFR bosses) It’s all based on RNG and feels horrible.

BfA will be more alt friendly than legion. This was said by a dev.

I have yet to play a zone that I hate more than Nazjatar. Period. I actually -hate- doing my dailies there, and the second I hit revered there, I may never step foot in there again.

Mechagon is fun, though.

7 hours now waiting on the drill to spawn to get to Caustic Mechaslime.

I mean, you didn’t have to say anything. The guy made a point and you just had to be passive aggressive about it for the attention. The “content” blows for the reasons Valiane said and that’s that I’m afraid.

Like Mechagon , Hate Nazjatar that about sums it up , and worst of all is Phasing In Nazjatar & having competing for WQ like Starfish with every player , they should be like Mines more than 1 person can click em

Ah yes. I’m hoping for a beta key so I can get away from this patch.

Why make content about killing rares but then make the rares have hour long respawn times with almost no HP so they die in 30s, so the map basically never has rares for you to find

Just make argus 2.0 at this point, rotating rare list with fast timers

Also WPvP is dead which is killing the event in najaztar, kill 1 alliance/horde to get a reward and yet there’s nobody around, like what!? Even worse, people will unlock flying end of this week and it will further solidify the end of WPvP

My mythic guild just died because everyones quitting with 8.2, like the xpac isn’t even half way through its life cycle and everyones already done with it. It basically became a Classic Server waiting room. This is literally worse than WoD, there’s no debate here.

I’m not happy about having to wait so long and spend so much time just to earn what I’ve already earned and had for so long (flying). Any positive association with or memory made in the zones will thus be tainted.
It also shouldn’t take more than an hour or so to do all of the daily tasks in the two zones, but several of these quests are very, very time consuming depending on your luck. #feelsbad. Also Benthic gear is far too RNG. We need gear we can target, not this put the coin in the slot and see what you get crap.

On the positive side the music is nice in Nazjatar. Mechagon is pretty fun, if you play when its not crowded. I hope there are more zones like it in the future…just please for the love of Zod, don’t tie earning flight to them.

So, I did my 75 mana pearl quest on like day 2 of the patch. You know, I just realized the quest I had gotten in it’s place to goto the eternal citadel to get the raid drops disappeared out of my log. I sure as heck hope I’m not going to have to spend another 75 mana pearls for something I already did… sheesh.

Anyone in Team 2 who thought revolving gameplay around rep was a smart albeit fun idea, please report to the Diablo; Immortal area for work transfer… that is all.

(yes I know this has been the formula since wow began regarding rep but 50-75 rep for these quests this expansion is simply not fun)

First of all, go back to Classic. Secondly, it’s not a snoozefest when things are easy. It’s called change of pacing.

The idea is that if EVERYTHING is hard, then NOTHING is hard. And in fact, that’s what I’m feeling in the new zone. Because all of it is so hard, nothing is hard. So rather than feeling fun, challenging, or difficult, it instead just feels like a major annoyance.

Let’s call it, “The Illusion of Difficulty.” Some people liked the “Illusion of Choice” that talents gave you in Vanilla. Some people, like yourself, still enjoy “The Illusion of Difficult” world questing content. I don’t. I see it for what it really is: just a simple time-gating mechanism, and a boring and annoying one at that. I know I can do the content, because it isn’t really that hard to do. It just isn’t enjoyable enough that I actually want to do it.

For example, I can fish and do pet battles for a lot of rep. Is that hard? Nope. That’s easy, but it’s also boring as fark. I don’t wanna do it. I don’t play WoW so I can play Pokemon. I don’t play WoW so I can play Bejeweled. I don’t play WoW so I can fish. If I wanted to be bored out of my mind, I’d go fishing in real life. If I wanted to play Pokemon, I’d turn off WoW and go play actual Pokemon. If I wanted to play Bejeweled, I’d turn off WoW and go play actual Bejeweled. Do you see where I’m going with this?

Do you live in your mother’s basement working at WoW…errr…I mean playing WoW all day that you think it’s easy? You see, some people out there have things called real jobs. They have real families. They spend real time with real people. And when those people come to play WoW, they want to feel like their time in game was actually well spent. Well, when it takes forever to do one little thing, the ROI for time spent in WoW for these people doesn’t go over well. And said people eventually decide to move on from the game altogether. “Easy” quest content can keep them around for longer, but if Blizzard decides to make the whole game forced boredom (by encouraging fishing or pet battles) or too annoying (by adding non-attackable cannons to quest content to make it more “interesting”), then these people start to leave.

Have fun playing a “hard” game all by yourself.

I’ve felt this way for a long time. The achievement system feels clunky when it’s not account bound. I don’t like getting achievements on one character that I’ve already earned on a different character. It just confuses me tbh.

Reputations as well. It should just be account bound. They also need something like final fantasy where if you’ve done all the quests in the zone on one character, you can have the option of skipping the story on a different character.

Just unsubbed after coming back for a month.
Zones aren’t fun, the effort vs reward structure is so far out of whack it’s not really worth it to do anything.
If the difficulty is gonna be ramped up like it is, then stop giving us garbage rewards.
Where is the weapons?
Mounts, pets, and random toys just don’t cut it when every mob hits like a truck and has super inflated healthbars.

Sure it’s all doable, but the question is,

is it worth the time it takes to do it all?

No.

art dept A+. Went way overboard with the mob density. Overall very lackluster imo. How about giving players a few alternate routes acquiring rep besides the same ole boring daily chores. And, if you guys are intent on shoving trash mobs in our faces constantly, then at least let them give some rep for the kills. Like you did with the timeless isle mobs. Edit. As one of the previous posters said. Fix the frackin rare spawn timers! By the time you spend swimming through endless ocean of annoying mobs to get to a rare spawn point there is nothing. Sitting at a spot waiting forever for a rare to spawn just to complete a frickin quest is not compelling gameplay.

Well, I most certainly won’t be the only one playing Classic. It is objective truth it is a harder version of the game. I’m not making that up.

And by the looks of your raid history and accomplishments within the game, I’d argue you can’t do the content that you “know you can do.”

Additionally, playing the IRL card is petty at best. Grow up. I have a full-time job, and if you do too, congratulations! Join the club. Manage your time better.

I love most of it, and really hate one part of it.

Enjoy:
-new essences and progression of essences
-both zones are awesome and the variety of content, even though some of it is gimmicky, is refreshing (at least for now)

Hate:
-Sharding is… why bother?
Now I’m loving this expansion so far, but the sharding for battle of nazjatar… is ridiculous. I’ve never seen the enlisted bonus reach 25% before, and even then it’s not enough of a reason to turn on WM for alliance. Battle of Nazjatar being won and alliance not even scoring 100 points is the norm. That measly 25% bonus means little when you can barely leave any towns without running into a group of the enemy faction, let alone the actual battle for nazjatar event.

The fix, is even worse, at least with the battle of nazjatar event, you could snipe a kill of some horde running by, and then just wait it out and get your 500 rep. But with this comanders thing, if you’re not right at the spawn point, or within 2 minutes of where they spawn… gg… 3 hrs for another chance at 500 rep. This is by far the most frustrating thing I’ve had to experience. It probably doesn’t feel good for horde either, wandering around for 30 mins hoping to find an alliance char to get credit for the battle. Capture the flag type events don’t work when theres a large imbalance, the BFA incursions were much more enjoyable, because at least they were doable even with the imbalance.

Classic is harder. I remember it. It was also boring compared to Legion, Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Mists of Pandaria. I nearly quit the game in the level 40-50 range of Classic. That time actually reminds me a lot of the 8.2 patch. It was a chore to log in for that level range because the quests in that range were absolutely terrible.

I can do the hard content in the game, but I haven’t been doing it for years now because sometime during Wrath of the Lich King it became very unenjoyable to me. I found myself getting extremely angry at my fellow raiders to the point where raiding just made me angry. The camaraderie was gone. I raided during Burning Crusade and the first part of Wrath of the Lich King, before this website started recording raids that people have done.

Sorry for assuming you didn’t have a job. I just assume that people who want the game to be harder have no life because after playing this game for nearly 15 years, I don’t understand how some people can enjoy doing quests for paltry rewards.

Me, my friends and guildies are loving it so far!
But i have one thing to say: bring back old content like the Mage Tower!

The difficulty of Nazjatar is OK! Not too easy and not too hard

I liked the mechagon secret fish achievement, and the anti-gravity pack is obviously a lot of fun, pre-flying.

I like the abilities that my Nazjatar followers have. The progression/the way they gain exp, not so much (because it is timegated like everything else) but they are useful overall.

I dislike Nazjatar without flying because it’s essentially a collection of corridors filled with crap, so getting anywhere is annoying. Excessively vertical zone design.

I don’t get the time-gating behind Pathfinder 2 (via being locked to mechagon/nazj rep), you’ve been dangling that carrot for the better part of a year now, if it was just a long quest chain that required some collaboration from other players in the game, sure that’d be fulfilling, but grinding more dailies/world quests for weeks on end? No, just salt in the wounds. It feels lazy, Legion did the same thing though - did people actually like that?

I guess I liked having to queue a PVP Island Expedition to unlock an essence. I mean, I didn’t like the island expedition (I just don’t see the appeal of them at all, PVP or not), but at least you made me get out of my comfort zone for once.

Arms Warrior seems more fun in Arena than it was last patch, so that alt has become more fun. I can play it with PvE friends and do ok. The nerf to maledict seems good just in the sense that it’s not so ridiculously impactful to stack them on your team.

Dislike AP in general and the way it ties into essences. Farm more low quality content (WQs and Islands) on all your alts! I don’t understand why the most boring content is the stuff that rewards the most consistent AP - think about that.

No incentive or plans to raid this patch. Watched people fail way too much the last couple patches with little to show for it. Easier and just honestly more fun to play M+ with a smaller group of people.

Oh and super bummed about the lack of changes to affliction. I’ve officially stopped trying to enjoy it outside of BGs (and raid if I ever get forced back in there again). I can deal with it sucking for some kinds of content but It’s not even mechanically interesting.
