No, he’s asking for a game with MORE content and no timegating to drag it out.

Real, ACTUAL content, that’s more than what we have been given in the expansions to date.

In case anyone else hadn’t noticed, since Legion, content total has been going DOWN rather than UP, and even with that trend, we’re also getting MORE timegating to drag the content droughts OUT.

Legion & Shadowlands have more world content than any other expansions.

You seem to be using “content” as codeword for something else, so I’d suggest being more specific and not mis-using terms, since I really have no idea what you’re talking about.

Maybe “content” is a codeword for “something I have to do outside of arena” for some people? /shrug

Hey if PvPers want to just stand in a 2x2 space in Orgrimmar and just queue for arena for years on end and not have to do anything else, I’m fine with that. I think they should remove gear completely from PvP - including all gear rewards from PvP. You guys wanna play Arena Simulator with identical item lvels, no talents, nothing, that’s fine with me. But you should ASK for that directly instead of using all this weirdspeak.

And pacing. Man, the pacing of the rewards versus tasks just feel off.

Take casual pvp. The gear is not even worthwhile until you farm a bunch of honor and deal with rated play. Who wants to arena? I sure don’t. I like larger scale battles, it’s just more fun for me.

But yet the current design is to have all the special kids go do rated, than come back down to casual epic and random bg’s to beat up on the “nubs.”

And really, you don’t even have to do much in rated if you just want to pull out your card and buy a bunch of carries. It’s just a horrible game design.

Sure as hell didn’t feel like it to me.

After Legion content has gone down, sheesh you like to fight.

Now as for SL, the problem with IT’S content is that NONE of it really felt rewarding to play through. The Four SL zones outside of the Maw are not that big to me. Maybe there is some content weight and size to it.

Certainly isn’t an experience in game that conveys the why. The Story in SL is so well hidden I, even when looking for it, couldn’t find it. And, to me, that the story is apparently in novels instead of in game, is a design error.

Content in SL is not engaging to me. I’ve played 50 to 60. There is no feeling of reward or time well spent in doing so from what I played through. The experience is not there.

So hollow content is now a thing in game.

So what will the new player be playing? A trivialized version of new content? Will they be made aware before purchasing that they’ll be doing that sort of content for the rest of the expansion, rather than reaching end game?

What I’ve noticed is that people only describe an in-game activity as “content” if they like said activity.

Raiding, M+, Arena, that’s all content.
Pet battle dungeons, Covenant minigames, Torghast, are all not considered content.

Why do people do this? I don’t know.

I mean, if you mean about it being “predatory”, it kind of is. Blizzard doesn’t care about making a good game, they care about keeping people addicted. Most of the gaming industry is like that, when you take a look at the loot box scandals and such.

They just want to be an alcohol industry equivalent that’s alright to market to children.

It overwhelmingly comes from PvPers, too, I’ve noticed.

It really seems like they just want to stand by the mailbox for 2 years straight, every expansion, and queue for arena.

Combine that with all the complaints about “PvP gear disparities” and I really think they should just have a single template for each character for PvP that never changes. No gear at all. And, of course, no gear rewards. Have everyone be exactly the same in PvP. Then they can stop complaining about the rest of the game.

You know, that being for the whole expac doesn’t seem too bad.
It’s actually CONTENT. (And… if everything in TBC was released at the start, Hyjal would probably be done before Renowned 40 was achieved in SL.)

At that point, why not just find a different game?

It seems odd to expect an FPS or MOBA experience in an MMORPG.

That’s what I’ve always said, when I want to PvP I play a game that’s actually designed for it. And that’s never been WoW, where PvP has always been a sideshow (and a bad one, at that).

Basically it turned from a “grind at your own pace” MMORPG to a game of “red light, green light.” At least they haven’t started shooting people for logging in after they’ve capped rep for the day yet. Don’t let them watch Squid Game.

You guys are gonna be able to grind Cosmic Flux at your own pace all you want in 9.2.

Or made us pay in microtransactions at extra chances of lowering the timegate or getting loot.

That is absolutely fantastic new about something I definitely will not ever do. lol

I literally resubbed for the forums. I like you guys. Mostly. I was going to level some alts since I resubbed, but I can’t even make myself do that. lol

How do you figure that an MMORPG means you don’t have sane gear differences and grinding?

Standing by a mailbox? You mean, like getting boosted and picking up the free gear? Yeah, that’s not skill or even much effort.

It’s S O F T.

Maybe I missed that.

SL gearing is awful. Being an MMORPG has nothing to do with it.

Blizzard might, but the shareholders don’t care

also people trying to use subjective points when conversing with Blooms like he cares
kinda cringe

I apologize, but I have no idea what you are trying to communicate here. Can you perhaps phrase it another way?

So long as the player is having fun, I truly don’t think that it matters. At the end of the day, them having a good experience trumps everything else. Prospective players don’t care what end game content means, they just a good time, in whatever form or way that comes in.

I think the strategy behind giving someone an amazing time is having an amazing journey with a destination that is always just a little bit out of reach but something to sort of fantasize about. The minute that someone reaches the destination or even gets a little too close, it’s over.

I think by really focusing on the world at large, you’re really making it journey-centric an enriching the players’ lives with potentially all types of amazing experiences, both socially and from a storytelling perspective. Sprinkled in with bits of “oooh” and “aaah” in the form of rare things and legendary rewards that leaves the player wanting more incentivizing them to ‘git gud’, you have right there a legendary strategy for a game that is more addicting than the strongest thing imaginable.

You quoted someone who was acting like everyone against the ridiculous gear grinds and ilevle disparity in PVP were wrong, and you added basically that they should just quit and find another game if they didn’t like it.

Am I wrong?
