RIP Waterstrider 1 Week Left

And I think blizzards perspective on this, I could be wrong, is that the sky golem is locked behind an annoying recipe, or a pile of gold. While the water strider is just behind a rep wall that you can pass easily in a week with time walking or a month without.

That they think players would have been more upset about losing the sky golems ability than the water striders one.

And think about it. You won’t need to use the anti daze equipment pre 40 anyways since the chauffeur has anti daze built in, but is restricted to 60% mount speed.

My stance is, regardless of how you obtain a mount with a special ability like the golem and strider, the fact remains each is a mount with a special ability that should be treated the same in regards to mount equipment.

If one loses its special, ALL should.
If one keeps its special, ALL should.

And I agree. I think water striders shouldn’t take away from what DKs and shamans have, and I think that the sky golem shouldn’t take away from what druids have. Classes before mounts any day in my opinion.

I consider it to be a turning point in the game, actually.
In the past, Blizzard has taken out traits/skills/abilities and replaced them with other traits/skills/abilities, or simply left them out.
This, I believe, is a first…where they remove one of those abilities and re-introduce it with a price tag attached. That’s the part that I can’t agree to. The price is irrelevant…but the act sets a precedent.

The price is also irrelevant if you play a shaman or dk. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ion has stated on numerous occasions that they went too far from what class fantasy should be. If they really want to buckle down on fixing class fantasy and prune a couple of conveniences around the game like water walking mounts, golem harvesting, anti daze from non dk tanks, various spells from classes to make them focus on either aoe or cc or st, all in order to make class fantasy and spec identity better, I would have no problem with that. But the majority of people see these things as pruning. Something we had being taken away from us despite making classes feel more unique and niche. I would never expect another class, item, anything to be given a double jump ability like demon hunters for example.

Considering that mount equipment being released replaces: Water Walking potions, Hoofplates, Bardings, and Stirrups and one of those allows mounted interaction? I’d say that’s a good possibility.

And yet, only 52.9% of characters have that achievement. I’ve seen at least as many players riding normal mounts using the stirrups to gather as the Sky Golem.

Why would your spec be the only one exempted?

Blizzards desperation to slow it’s playerbase down any way they can think of is the most hilarious part of all of all this including flight gating lol. Oh, and their desperation to get people to buy into their gold sink gimmicks.

Not my spec. My class. DKs have the On a Pale Horse passive since wrath that gives them increased mount speed and daze resistance. I’m not saying make DKs not daze at all. Just make everyone daze again but let DKs keep that passive since it’s been there from the start.

Don’t remind me :frowning:

RIP red water strider. I made Nat Pagle drown so many times while fishing for you.

I’ll have to go back to keeping a waterstrider pet with me all the time, so I can use his WW spell.

I totally forgot about that pet.

First thing I’m doing when I next log in is putting my strider pet in the 5-slot pet stable I carry with me.

My DH and mage, hovever, are royally ooked in the dooker.

Edit: I pray like hell Blizz doesn’t remove that pet’s ability along with the strider mount.
Any PTR testers able to confirm one way or the other whether the strider pet still has its water-walking?

Hunters have a pet that gives them a water walking spell? What and how long has that been a thing? I’ve never heard of that.

And DHs don’t really have issues traversing water since they can spam double jump and glide to quickly pass over. It’s still not mount speed but it could be slower… like warlocks…

Since MoP

Edit: But they’re beast mastery only, unfortunately.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a hunter with a water strider pet. Or is it something different?

There’s a “Cunning” pet family called Water Strider (Exotic) that has a special ability called “Surface Trot”.

Surface Trot (exotic ability): Allows the Hunter and the Water strider to walk across water. Any damage will cancel the effect.

Returned to the game just to see everyone on their Water Striders during an invasion–myself included. Kind of dull. I think opening up water walking to more mounts is a great thing. Bye bye strider

I’ve only ever seen one other Hunter using one. To be fair, I never use my own much, unless I need to get over some water and I can’t mount up.
There are a few different models of them, my favourite being the alien-like ones originating from Zangarmarsh.
