The best part is the man was returning one of the officers helmets who had taken it off because moments before they were kneeling with the crowd and left it on the ground. Such a threatening act, returning property to the police!
Yes. People will get the help they need before their problems mount to the point where’s there’s no way out, no where left to turn. It’s hard to imagine for Americans, but we don’t need body armor and guns to keep people safe. We just need to eradicate poverty - which is much cheaper than policing it.
Like I mentioned earlier, sociopaths exist. A subset of sociopaths become violent because of various mental health problems that create a sort of comorbidity in their psyche. It’s extremely rare, rare enough that a more mature and accountable agency can handle. Say, the FBI for example, who already handles the majority of these cases.
Defund police forces and instead pour the money into hemline communities. This approach works.
It’s unfair to not account for the incredibly high rate of non-violent individuals that’re in prison. I forgot the exact number off the top of my head, but only about 40% of them are there for violent crimes. Not to mention there’s basically no effort made to rehabilitate criminals in the US, leading to us having one of the highest repeat offender rates in the world.
Our systems failure to try to solve the problem rather than profiting from it (i.e. for-profit prison, which is an insane concept) is a topic for a different thread, though.
Look up Daniel Shaver. He was shot after police gave conflicting commands to him. And guess what happened to the guy who shot him? I’ll give you a hint, he’s retired now and collects $2,500 a month for the rest of his life.
A riot situation is, admittedly, quite different to normal policing. I supported the curfew and National Guard assistance in Los Angeles this past week as necessary to restore order and allow for the peaceful marches to continue.
Because one doesn’t cancel the other you idiot. People absolutely care about black on black crime, but that’s not what the current movement is about.
There is no doubt at all that neither of you care about black on black crime unless you can use it as a way to deflect from a successful pro-black movement.
“Akston in a brave journey, traveled to the moon. During reentry his capsule malfunctioned, and he was trapped. Akston, luckily survived on a supply of pickled beets and lima beans.”
Nope. Because it ignores that proximity is the issue (often due to systemic racism) that typically leads to same race on same race violence. Not the race itself. It ignores that when you are a police officer, you are expected to be better than the average person. You are being paid and given a certain leeway to act a certain way. Because you are expected and trained (not well enough) to act in a way to serve and protect.
Fixed it for you. If they weren’t breaking the laws, they wouldn’t risk being in jail to begin with. You may not agree with the laws but you have to obey them or risk the punishment.
You could do away with all legal gun ownership and criminals would still have them. It would just mean their victims are now an even easier target. Until you can tell me how you will get the guns out of the hands of the criminal class, stay away from mine.
Not looting or conducting violence?
The mass majority of protesters have done nothing to instigate police brutality against them.
This i getting tiring and old. Simply because other jobs have a higher rate of fatality does not mean the danger of being a cop is any less. Furthermore said data collects from ALL areas, and some areas are significantly more dangerous than others. It is an inaccurate usage of statistics.
The mass majority of said scrutiny often involves in no conviction evenin cases where the individual shot was unarmed and not acting in a way to warrant it. Such a the 2016 killing of an unarmed pest control dude .
Your, not you’re, and stop making inappropriate comments about PTSD. You completely destroy your position doing so
of course it will. And the idiots who voted for this need to be held personally accountable. Their vote is supposed to represent the people who vote for them. Not some idiotic political agenda.
