It’s funny whenever Demo starts to have some crazy or stong buffs coming, it gets nerfed faster than any other spec I swear. Some noteworthy Demo nerfs in recent years that come to mind:
- Shadowlands Season 3: Following an AWC tournament where Destro/Frost Mage dominated the ladder, Demo was hotfix nerfed despite having lower representation than Destro in the AWC and the 2s, 3s, & RBG ladders.
- Dragonflight Season 1 (10.0.7 - The Retpocolypse): What many will not remember is that Demo was also heavily buffed in the same patch (with like a +150% damage modifier to Tyrant which stacked with the Tyranny Talent). It was one of few specs that could stand toe-to-toe with pre-nerf Ret (despite Ret being a strong counter for Demo with wake of ash stun, searing glare, and instant cast turn evil [at least during this patch]. But Demo was swiftly hotfixed/nerfed within 3 hours of the patch going live, meanwhile Ret reigned unopposed for months; requiring several small tuning waves to correct it.
