Media outlets are reporting that Chuck Norris died today.
I was never a huge Chuck Norris fan, but Chuck Norris joke played a large part of my early wow experience when leveling through the Barrens.
RIP Mr. Norris.

It’s kind of funny that WoW’s Barrens Chat directly contributed to Norris actually starting to believe his own Internet Hype later in his life.
Still, 86 is a good run. Hopefully his family was with him and they’re getting the support they need in this difficult time.

Just heard part of a statement from the family. He died suddenly yesterday. Death had to sneak up on him.

Barrens chat was such a core part of the original WoW experience, Chuck Norris facts included. Didn’t really agree with him on a personal level but watching his show was also part of my childhood and then WoW itself later on.

RIP Chuck Norris. A martial arts legend. Inspired millions. His legend joke is part of internet culture from the mid 2000s. He will never be forgotten.

I actually did. There were some people there. Jokes were told. RIP’s were given. Nostalgia happened.
It did make me miss the Barrens. Had some good times there. A lot of RP happened around there in the day. When I think of WoW, lots of memories come to mind and a good chunk of them are from the Barrens.
I hope when/if Blizz does the old world revamp, the Barrens gets the respect it deserves.

My favourite movie for a few years when I was a kid was Sidekicks, a movie where Chuck Norris basically played himself and that starred my childhood crush, Jonathan Brandis. Even with the jokes (and my mother’s love for Walker, Texas Ranger), that movie is what I instantly think of whenever I hear Norris’ name.
