Title says it all. The new talents are convoluted, gives an illusion of choice even though there isn’t any and is so bottom heavy that we can’t take any of the fun new talents without rolling a troll spec.
Was hoping for something interesting and fun, instead its clear that Blizz just doesn’t care about this spec (not that their actions would say otherwise over the past 2+ year, including ignoring us the entire beta only to throw us a garbage rework 2 months into the expansion)

The changed talent tree did literally nothing for the glaring flaw for bears: survivability. It was pointless. Absolute waste of time.

Designers don’t play with bears at all, for sure.

Ugh sorry sloppy writing - rewrite,
In short Blizzard screwed the bear by removing the only thing they had going for them and that was PHYSICAL DAMAGE REDUCTION. See bears had a natural weakness towards magic (in fact they actually take more magic damage then any other tank, often upwards of 30%-50% more(pending on skill, and critical magic 1 shot even with defense cd’s used), so ALL cd’s had to be used for any high powered magic abilities. So when they nerfed their physical damage reduction (AND MAGICAL DEFENSES)… they just became tissue paper. Now they can’t do squat, GG blizz good job understanding how the class/role plays…
It’s worse that almost all of the expansion so far is magic based, with their natural weakness bears don’t stand a chance thusfar in the expansion. At least the Physical aspect gave them a standing chance. But again blizzard carelessly nerfed ALL tanks except warriors to take 10% more damage(including more magical damage for guardian druids). w/o considering how druids actually worked… So I will say this, this is why you don’t cycle developers. Because the next person in line has all these GRAND ideas… but don’t understand the core foundation of the class they get assigned.
If you don’t remember, last time they screwed up shamans as badly as they did GUARDIAN druids this time around they actually had to IMPORT a previous expansions coding just to make them usable again… But til more people complain about it, chances are they gonna stay dead til the end of the expansion… which sucks big time.

I think the biggest issue is the consistant nerfs to mastery scaling. Bear used to have a ton of health, and a ton of extra healing from heals taken. Now my bear has less hp than my DK. At least turn them into meat bags again

Ridiculous change…
Literally zero effort from the dev team to understand the way the class is played. Reminds me of the Storm Ele nerf to ele shaman…
Well done in killing a tank spec, games short on enough tanks as it is.

Completely agree, Druids use to have a good 1-2x other tanks in health to make up for the magical weaknesses. Now a bear at ilvl 397eq has 450k and a dh that meta’s has 800k. Unmeta’d is still 500k for same item level or very close to similiar item level.
It’s honestly pretty sickening the treatment they are getting right now. Reason why I say sickening, is cause i’ve been on the other side of those nerfs every expansion. It bothers me when devs don’t take the time of day to address these balancing issues right.

Even warriors can end up with more hp if they take stamina nodes in their tree. I’d honestly rather that for druids than half the talents in t2 tbh.

I was very optimistic about this, but the rework made me weaker.
Druid just went from tied for worst tank, to actual worst tank.

I feel for you guys, I’m a resto-shaman main. Like I said i know what it’s like to get bio’d on by blizz and imma point your guys treatment to their ‘office drama’. I think out of every expansion I can name 3 expansion where we weren’t utter garbage for at least half the expansion.
I hope you guys get fixed, I love my shaman druid tank/healer combo :’(
What really sucks is that’s what my fiance plays. So, he’s tryin to stick with it, but it’s hard cause we do the M+ stuff, and when he’s getting 1 shot by standard attacks with defenses up it really blows. He’s not geared wrong either he’s been playing Guardian druid since Pandaria. He know’s his class that he can actually see the differences in his healthbar, his damage taken and recieved even stat based.
People like to dismiss experience, but when your connected with your class you notice things, you know how your secondaries interact with your character. A lot of these developers just haven’t got a clue. I can’t blame them entirely, because they are constantly cycled out. They want to try new things, I just ask that they learn to understand the class before they go changing everything about them.
Some of these class specs have a very delicate balance to their stats, and resto shamans and guardian druids have both been destroyed mastery wise - which is why it takes them FOREVER to fix those classes, every time there’s a level hike, and they stat squish to keep numbers lower overall their stats get screwed in a bad way. Other classes often have the work arounds of crit/haste. Those two don’t - and it takes a good year for the dev team to figure that one out…
Since 2006 when I started playing, i’ve NEVER seen a resto shaman run oom with water shield… but that crap… so damn common in this expansion - yet they still only pull 1/5th the numbers of other classes.

It really makes me question how intelligent people at blizzard are. We as players can see all the problems bear has. Nothing these changes did addresses ANY of it. It was literally wasted man hours.
Here I can fix bear by just tweaking numbers and not spending hundreds or thousands of man hours re-designing the tree to do literally nothing:
Increase the effectiveness of guardian mastery by 30%
Increase armor gained when in bear form so that with 395ish ilvl gear your base armor is 45% mitigation. Slightly lower ironfur to compensate. Give ironfur a 5% magic damage mitigation per stack (scale this the same way armor does, so that 2 stacks will be 10% mitigation, but 10 stacks will only be ~60% mitigation).
Wow bear is fixed :0

I would also reduce magical damage taken/recieved by 10-15% because of that ‘total damage taken’ nerf they already got which had them in a hard place to begin with, and that extra 5% will make it so they aren’t 1 shot with timed defensives . If anything they needed a magic defense buff, since we seem to be moving away from physical damage with the way these expansions are going. If only to put them more in line with other tanks.
I can’t tell you how many times i’ve seen a warlock or a mage 1 shot guardian druids - just by landing a crit when they didn’t defense in time(being same gear level). It’s actually been a problem for a couple expansions now, but those expansions weren’t as magic/element based as this one so far…
why would you guys put the good talents in spots that are completely inaccessible. can you go one update without defecating all over guardian tanks? seriously whoever has a hate fetish for bears needs to be fired immediately.

Bear druids were TRASH the entire dragonflight beta. They did nothing to fix them. Then a few weeks before release they straight up just gave them a blanket 50% damage increase for most of their abilities. THAT was their solution to bear. It’s hilarious. It’s like they didn’t even try to balance bear at all.

I’m amazed howmany players act like the talent tree is the main focus of the game not not the quests/story.
Yes, the quests and story that you complete going from level 60-70 in a few days. And then the YEARS you spend with your character after. Hmmmmmmmm

That just proves my point, they needed to boost magic/elemental defensives. Not break them down harder, they still need a damage buff…
But my guess is they probably don’t even know how to access the elemental defense of druids anymore… Probably not since they got rid of the last good bear developer who actually paid attention to the types of magic an expansion was headed… and compensated by boosting their defensive traits for the elements… (hello, those got squished too with other stat squishes, they are still hard coded into some of the classes… doesn’t take much to figure that one out!)

The main focus of the game is the endgame (Including PVP, M+, and Raid). Thats why they have Race to World First, MDI, and PVP championships. There’s no such thing as competitive questing as far as Blizzard is concerned. There are slews of players that click thru the quests as fast as the can to get to the endgame.
As far as the talent system, I was looking at last week’s talent tree and yearning to have just 2 more talents on the right side tree. now I can either spec for damage or have to trudge through a wall of trash talents to grab survivability talents.

Well when you have all your attacks on 1 side, and then all your defenses locked behind a wall of useless boomkin, or resto skills that throw you out of tank form making you squishier then a mage w/o blink/shield/slows wearing ilvl 10 grey armor facing a raid boss… THEN you’d have the right to say something in regards to talent trees for druids. -.-

Get flashing claws out of my damn way. I want dream, I don’t want 2 lukewarm damage talent points to get to a healing talent. Poor design.
