Ringing the gong

My understanding is that most large servers have a coalition with the top horde/ally guilds to open the gates as soon as possible. On my server they are planning to get as many people the mount as possible and have a rough set day/time to ring the gong

Except you can use the mount he is talking about every where. it looks like the mounts that can only be used in the instance but black and can be used everywhere.

That depends. When BWL attunement became available, on several servers members of some of the sweatiest pserver guilds kidnapped the questgiver for hours, keeping him sheeped I believe deep in the ocean by STV. Players would keep devilsaur frequently sheeped in the mountains or kite them into Tanaris to annoy farmers.

So I have little doubt that the guilds full of people that don’t have jobs can and will sit at AQ to try to prevent the other faction from getting the mount- and considering some of these guilds are big enough and dedicated enough to hold BRM for hours successfully, I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually succeed on Faer, WM, Incend, Herod in particular.

Imagine spending hundreds/thousands of hours and far more gold to finish that brutal questline only to be denied at the final step- because that sort of thing is what pserver guilds live for.

Remember these are the types that organized multiple raids of 100s of players to roam high end zones for an entire month during phase 2 with the goal of getting thousands of players to quit.

Don’t underestimate them.

That said- they probably will have a hard time preventing their own faction from doing so, but they still may be able to, they did so with some success with devilsaur after all.

since classic is going to basically be forever they should make the gong a quest chain that anyone can do once attuned to it and not simply a limited event like the first time

you reach the area and are capable of surviving then you get a once per toon chance to earn the rewards and then you are phased to those that came before and got it

Realistically, they’re going to ring the gong as soon as possible to open up the raid. That requires both factions to be done their turn-ins, so I can see a deal being worked out to allow the opposite faction’s champion to ring the gong if it’s done in time.

They could betray the agreement, of course.

And I do think you’re correct on pvp servers killing as much as they can/trying to control it.

Just another thing I don’t have to deal with on a PvE server.
