To simply engage in a topic of conversation that has personal meaning to me.
I know this is more than a little off topic but something I noticed even growing up was over time people have gotten more accepting of ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away. I used that as a crutch for years.
Over the years however Iāve just came to realize that the moment you start putting absurd restrictions on what can and canāt be said either one of two things happen. Either you end up with segregation, or create an environment where the trolling is even worse.
Look at League of Legends for example. It has the same system and it has one of the most toxic hostile player bases of any game Iāve ever seen.
Nobody is assigning any blame. There are other tools available that accomplish your goal without adversely affecting others.
Obviously weāre not going to see eye to eye on this but I donāt think asking people not to threaten others with death is an absurd restriction.
Thereās a reason I donāt play League of Legends, or any MOBA for that matter. Those games are notorious for punishing not just you, but multiple people, for any mistakes you make and thus tends to turn a community very vicious.
Forgive me for not giving a damn about the feelings of the person thatās actively trying to tell me to kill myself after I beat them in PvP or beat them to a gathering node or whatever.
Removing the right-click report or auto-squelch functions will empower Gold Sellers and cause irreparable damage to Classic. The primary reason the system was developed and implemented over 12 years ago was to combat Gold Sellers and illicit services in general.
How does people buying gold affect your game experience?
Well I actually need to go. Thanks for the conversation people.
Sadly even this is the sort of conversations that disappear the moment you create a āpopularity voteā for who can type. I know some people mentioned that R-Click report has been around forever and hasnāt caused problems. Personally I wouldnāt know. The last time I logged in was WoD and the three weeks I played I might have saw a grand total of 30 people talk.
Personally I just feel that anything serious enough to be an issue would be handled by GMās or simply ignoring them, and that automated systems are easily abused. Always been a part of MMOās. You take the good with the bad. generally speaking people just alienate themselves eventually and slowly fade away anyway. Well the real asshats anyway.
Is this a serious question? It canāt be serious.
It spams the channels, encourages monopolies in-game for the best farming spots, and it gives people an unfair advantage in-game. I knew of a guild on my server during Vanilla that gave DKP for donated mats. So a dude bought a ton of gold, bought all the raiding mats out on the AH, and got geared up extremely quick.
Probably affects things in other ways not off the top of my head, but I seriously hope gold selling is cracked down on hard in Classic.
Google?
->WoW Classic Gold.
Itās not hard lol.
Anyway really gotta go. Bye for real.
Yup, how does another person buying gold affect your game experience?
People buying gold means there is a demand.
A demand means there is incentive to farm it.
A financial incentive means people will do whatever it takes to farm and sell it as efficiently as possible.
This leads to botting.
Iām not even going to bother to entertain this stupid question further than this.
When chinese gold farmers are keeping Tyrās Hand dead 24/7, or keeping the devilsaurs in Unāgoro extinct, that can easily be considered affecting oneās game experience.
Botting is against the ToS. How is paying some kid in China to farm gold, any different than paying my kid 20 bucks to farm gold while Iām at work?
This guy is actually defending Gold Sellers.
Iām defending capitalism.
Well for starters account sharing with family members is not against the TOS.
Youāre defending breaking the rules and cheating in a persistent, massively multiplayer online world. I guess you also want the Gold Token to be in Classic?
Donāt expect to get much support around here for these views.
Your kid likely isnāt affecting the overall economy of the server.
Your kid is also just one person, playing the game fairly. Your kid isnāt part of an organization botting and hacking their way through a zone ensuring people who want to farm legitimately cannot in any way do so.
