Revert STV hotfix now! Consider these changes

I agree with your proposals except this one. Why increase the cost of rewards now? So all of us who no-slept our way to 40 got items super cheap, and all the normal people get to suffer?

Horrible idea.

Because it’s not all about you bro. It’s about the sustainability of the content to last throughout the entirety of the 3 month phase. If everyone can farm out the absolute best rewards in literally 2 events, or 1-3 days, that is bad design. The fields will be empty in a week. Much less a month from now, or 2 months from now.

damage reflect when you rez and a damage depuff if your in a raid

Remove the debuff and increase the cost of rewards by 10x.

Let us go back to mosh pitting in the GY if we want to, it was super fun and entertaining just killing and dying and killing and dying.

I know this isn’t what Blizzard intended for the event, but it feels WAY worse to instead resurrect and have to just look around for ANYONE nearby without the debuff while treating those WITH the debuff as lepers.

But people already have the items. You’re going to come along and tell people that haven’t already got them that it’s going to take them 5 times longer? That’s really bad design.

SoD is all about leveling alts. Engagement will be fine. STV will never be short on people to kill.

No instead we’ll just make an entire zone unreachable by anyone for 30 minutes unlness they want to get spawn camped.

No, its not bad design. It’s correcting the design to operate as it was intended. Who cares if less than 0.5% of players got a few items. Good for them, they rushed and no-lifed to 40 and took advantage. That’s what happens when there is no beta testing.

Just because they did, doesn’t mean give a free handout to all the casuals and 99.5% of the players base because the system had a flaw and wasn’t tuned correctly.

You also forget SoD is the testing ground for future classic+. It’s about setting the standard and expectations. Which also comes with establishing longevity and playability of content over an extended period of time to breach the time between phases while sustaining a healthy player base without taking a large dip in participation after the first week or first month.

People already abused the first day with no cooldown got everything they needed including mount.

Remove the cooldown and add more layers and let people just FFA anyone.

Put some kind of immunity/shield on people who rez for 20 sec at most and if they attack they lose it just to prevent gy camping.

Problem solved

Imagine thinking this is remotely plausible. Try to think this through for a moment. Can you imagine the backlash if all the sweatlords get all the gear for virtual free and then Blizzard shut the door and jacked the price up for the casuals who don’t even have five-man groups?

Come on man…

How do you not have a 5 man group?

This is the one saving grace of the event. You can get your items quickly and never go back to that disaster.

Seriously, I’d love to see a Town Hall type event where the devs would take actual player questions and give thorough answers instead of the questions the streamers ask that are pre-vetted by the team. I want to understand the thinking that went into this.

It’s now two phases in a row where the devs have demonstrated a lack of understanding their playerbase and what fun pvp is. It’s mindblowing since they have nearly two decades of battleground feedback and analytics to inform their thinking.

Rather than anything interesting or meaningful, we’ve devolved into “Hey, let’s put everyone in the same place and have them kill each other”. Sure, pvp can be described that way in the most obtuse manner possible, but we know better. This is essentially a lobby battle royal zero structure or a tangible win condition. How did you make a pvp event without a win condition? That seems fundamental.

Free tips for the devs:

  1. Have a win condition.
  2. Prioritize fun, even if it makes you question what your predecessors have burned into your head as scripture.
  3. Don’t forcibly separate players from their allies. This is an MMO game, you should be developing in the spirit of cooperation and coordination. Not against it.

I’ve never called for anyone’s job and I’m not going to start here. But at the very least some retraining or maybe a PIP is appropriate for this gross incompetence.

Someone gets it.

Everyone’s compliment about SoD is “we have so much time to get things done.”

Meanwhile I’m punished with a month long WSG grind cuz I didn’t farm Ashenvale event week 1, and now I’m stuck with a super difficult version of an STV event that literally barfed out one-run epics for everyone on day one.
