Returning Players

As a returning player who skipped all of BFA, I gotta say the whole covenants, conduits & soulbinds on top of trying to absorb normal class changes for Shadowlands is a bit overwhelming. Are there any good forum posts that explain it all? Covenants seem to just be a fancy word for factions. However, I’m lost with the conduits/soulbinds stuff. WoW Head’s walkthrough seems more like a strategic map for those that already understand it. Some people have related it some BFA systems, but that means little to me since I skipped it. I’m 120, but I’m doing nothing endgame but running legacy stuff until pre-patch.

Any resources that better explain the new borrowed power systems would be appreciated.

As far as I understand it Covenants are like mini-factions that you can opt into at the start of shadowlands.

The Four different ones offer different abilities and gear that are of their own aesthetic. As well the raid gear appearance you get is tied to the covenant you chose, this can be changed but as many have stated it comes with a re-attunement like quest to go back to your old one

As far as conduits/soulbinds; they are sort of like legion legendaries in the sense that they have many different sockets to fill that can be changed once a day with a new currency. They offer different buffs or bonuses etc.

I hope this helps.
