Returning player with an immediate bad experience

No that is exactly what people should do… and then the people that he told should be decent human being and explain things… and your reply just exemplifies his complaint.

@OP I’m sorry for your experiences. Those plus many others are why I chose not to group with others using Blizzards tools. I used to be a supporter of them, but in all honesty I think that support was a mistake.

That is just a chat channel - there is no indication people are expected to play with new players just answer questions.

are you sure?

Actually they can. That’s why we have laws and not anarchy in RL. People always say “oh but it’s too commonplace to police”. You sledgehammer people and suspend their whole Blizzard account for 3 months and the rest fall in line. Plus you reward positive behaviours. Humans are pretty pavlovian.

Honestly the community as a whole in this game sucks. The difference in other games I play is like night and day.

WoW’s community at large acts like the kind of people you’d expect to meet if you walked down a dark alley in a bad part of town at night. The other games I play their communities at large act more like the kind of people you’d expect to meet when taking a stroll along a lovely beach in the morning in a nice area.

Without much to say I can similarly relate to your topic and I am truly sorry you’ve came to that.

WoW was fun and aside from the awful reputation being held as having “bad people majority” it is also the current mechanics and system which is far draining.

I cannot say I am on your side nor do I want to object otherwise,

All I can is this,

I personally uninstalled the game & waiting for my sub to end till I can come back for Shadowlands and see how it fares any better,

Try FFXIV, I am having a blast with the storyline and just joined a Company (guild) and by far they have been amazing people.

Did came across couple rude people but so far in my experience they’re very small,

Cheers

The only time I know the community is bad in this game is from reading the forums. I don’t come across many jerks at all when I am playing.

In 10 years, I only remember a couple of really bad dungeon groups.

Aww, I was planning to.

Happiness is Mandatory!

I feel ya. Same with me. I can relate.

Power creep is poor game design. As the numbers inflate they eventually become a problem. Blizzard has created a cycle of number inflation and deflation to provide the player with the illusion of progression.

Unfortunatley, there will be a segment of the playerbase that will push harder on that hamster wheel in an effort to get thier reward. Anything that gets in the way of that reward is ultimately met with extraordinary resistance. This includes new players.

This is why World of Warcraft will eventually bleed to death. The existing playerbase will eventually leave, one way or another. It is possible the shareholders are just milking the existing playerbase for as long as they can. Now you try to explain to the shareholder that this strategy is economically self defeating.

People can yammer on about “hurr durr, it’s the internet” but I have no problem with players receiving negative actions for their negative behavior

I can’t believe I’m about to be nice to someone but could you direct OP to that friendship run thing you sent me to on the weekend, their discord is full of group finding stuff and everyone was friendly and super chill, probably a good place for OP to go instead of quitting.

No one is going to stop you if you want to.

There is nothing in MMO - massive multiplayer online game that says you are your brothers’ helper. Blizzard themselves stated in WoD that as a new player you shouldn’t be learning at other peoples expense and that is why they made proving grounds a requirement in WoD.

Uniquely? Have you ever played LoL? Or for that matter any PvP focused game.

Also, there is nothing unique about people being total jerks online.

Blizzard can still create challenging content for solo and group play. Group play requires like minded players for it to provide a pleasent experience. The negative experience stems from conflicting playstyles within the group environment.

The new player becomes a problem from the perspective of veteran players. The new player is “slowing down” the rate of rewards that the veteran expects from the game.

There is a solution to this problem. Like all solutions, it creates other problems as well.

I would eliminate all higher tiered gear from the game. Stats will still be available and more customizable than ever before. All players must respect the stat budget. You can arrange your stats however you want but you’ll never be able to get 1 more stat point than another player. The rewards will be cosmetic instead of stat inflation.

Saw this once on a Pirate poster “The beatings will continue until morale improves” :pirate_flag:

I think we’re beyond that point of resolution seeing how BFA’s testament of its own has proven to be draining with mechanics and player base altogether.

Not wanting to sound under the state of disparity but its the director and devs themselves that still just can’t or refuse to fix much.

Its sad,

It seems likely that the “draining” of the player base is intentional. In more ways than one.
