I haven’t played retail since around BFA and I am thinking of coming back for the new expansion.
Since I last played I live in a new country so rather than being an EU player I would now be NA.
Does server choice matter? I am in Vancouver Canada so is East/West still a thing or these days are most things cross realm?
I guess guilds are still server based? Apart from that I just feel totally lost on all the game changes but I can go watch/read up on these but if anybody has any good resources, let me know!

East/West servers are a thing. Hyjal is a decent west coast Horde server for example. Just google wow server list.
I think the servers are in data centers that are all either on the west coast or the Midwest (in like the Chicago area specifically) so your latency should not be that high regardless of what you pick, but I do think people on west coast realms tend to be up later, as you might expect
Thanks both for the replies. Good to know! Think I will try and find a good West coast server, I’ll take a look at Hyjal, I guess most guild recruitment is discord these days?
