Return to the Icy Realm of Northrend in World of Warcraft®: Wrath of the Lich King Classic™

Is Blizzard incompetent, delusional, or somehow money hungry? It is with great struggle that I try and comprehend the level of stupidity that is the decision to not include a dungeon finder with Wotlk. This is my first and last post as I contemplate how anyone would even bother with wow classic anymore…

I see a lot of discussion about Dungeon Finder and that’s legitimate but honestly my main concern is that this is too fast of a release right after TBC. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Wrath, but I loved TBC also, and I was looking forward to spending a little more time there before everyone moved on to Wrath.

Disappointed in the Dungeon Finder removal, i was looking forward to not having to dredge through /4 LFG trash talking for hours every day.

i mean its a choice to use, and now youve taken that away. guess im going to finish playing out my time, and cancel subscription.

Reminder that this thread is on GD which is NOT in any ways an indicator of the classic player base, so obviously the people here who cry about not being invited to mythic+ because they are bad would hate the removal of this feature, GREAT decision by Blizzard to remove that garbage from Wrath.

This is any absolute disgrace! If the boosts to 70 wasn’t enough slap in the face, they doubled down removing the DF. Removing the Dungeon Finder is the most nonsensical decision Blizzard has made. If it truly was about what the “community” wanted to maintain social bonds, you could still include the Finder and the “community” could forgo using it. They would still be able to use chat to form groups and the rest of us could use the Finder. Please reverse this decision ASAP.

If they don’t reverse this decision, once the expansion slows down, I’ll be unsubscribing.

“Players rediscovering Wrath of the Lich King Classic won’t find the Looking for Dungeon feature originally added in Patch 3.3.5. We’ve heard from our Classic community that the importance of social bonds is a big part of what makes Classic their game of choice, and we agree”

TRANSLATION: Our statistics indicate servers with low populations are less likely to pay for realm transfers if they had the Dungeon Finder

It.s all about the $$$.

Also: Players who have to go to the dungeons themselves spend more time in game than those who get a summon. This will balance out the people who decide not to play that classic game because the dungeon finder was removed.

A “boomer” is a person who was born during the post WWII baby boom, ie 60-75. I’m a boomer, and I think this decision is stupid and has nothing whatever to do with a handful of classic players who didn’t want the dungeon finder to be in an expansion they aren’t planning on playing.

It’s about what Ion wants. We read delusional claims in the forum that removing the dungeon finder will restore some magical “community” that never existed outside of their own guild. I think this is a trial balloon prior to removing the dungeon finder from retail.

It’s all about purity of design. Gotta get rid of those qol features.

Gotta get the MAU’s somehow.

Yeah, the only community really wanting this is the Boosting community…

I doubt many want the finder removed. There is likely some financial motive for it. I’d challenge Blizzard to release the consensus numbers who voted yay/ nay.

Bruh, go visit any classic forum or discord server. Complaints are everywhere.

Those who currently seek groups in classic TODAY know it is near impossible.

REMINDER you mentioned mythic+. Get out of here.

Removing LFD tool is one the least requested things. Most of us don’t have the time to spam trade chat. LFD is an excellent alternative to paying people to level you which is what 90% of the community does so i guess blizz doesn’t care about the player yet again.

A small number of players of Classic think it should never have been implemented in the game.

I think it has more to do with planners thinking that turning wow back into a game without the qol features players enjoy will make it hardcore and return the community to some monolithic thing it never was.

They are tired of people playing the game wrong. Players given options can choose to play the game wrong. They will remove options until everyone (left) is playing right, or until Microsoft cleans house.

It’s developer hubris in action. They think they understand people who play the game but they don’t.

The people who are complaining about the existence of the group finder and wanting it removed are complaining that no one will play with them because they aren’t being forced to make groups and walk to dungeons. This is utter dreck. If there were no boosts the people who used them wouldn’t be playing with you. They wouldn’t be playing those alts at all. And they won’t be starting groups for wrath classic and traveling to the dungeons. They wanted to do the dungeons. Not one dungeon once in a while. They won’t be playing. People like you have driven them from wrath classic. It’s going to be a ghost town. Good luck making groups.

This may be in GD, but it’s a direct link from the Blizzard announcement. Feel free to hop over to the classic forums where most of us are also expressing dissatisfaction.

I genuinely don’t understand why a handful of people actively want LFD removed. If it’s added back, and you don’t like it, then don’t use it. But the existing Classic/TBC dungeon finding in-game solution and LFG Bulletin Board solution are just as asocial as dungeon finder, while being far less convenient.

Sounds like a you problem, I’ve never had any issues grouping In classic the only ones who do are bads who usually suck at the game and no one wants to group with them, Blizzard ignoring them when they can simply get good was a great decision.

Blizzard is doing this because they wanted to do this. Old is new, black is white, and qol is work of the devil.

That very well may be. But there are a handful of vocal posters here who actively seem to think that LFD would be detrimental, but I still haven’t seen actual reasoning supporting this opinion. As long as it’s not a means for current tier raiders to acquire equivalent tier gear which would make LFD feel mandatory to them, I just don’t get why they care how others enjoy the game.

I suppose trolls will be trolls though.
