Simming over 40k with Vision of Perfection. No Igneous Potential. What is this even?
Interesting. I can’t find a set up for me, though, where I don’t lose about 1k sim dps by switching.
Your transmog is top notch.
There’s plenty of odd setups simming high right now but none of them are practical.
Without igneous potential, storm elemental should sim higher. Without it, the main EoTE/MoTE build is pretty mediocre.
Interestingly, EoTE/MoTE + Primal elementalist is actually better (sims within 100 or so dps of icefury for me, but has easier execution and better AoE) if you’re running 3x IP, because fire elemental does more damage than storm elemental, and you’re not casting as many lightning bolts to benefit from the increased cast speed given by storm elemental.
After running Mythic prog this week with my guild, then normal prog this week with my other guild, I can definitely say the build is working well. We’ll see what next week and rank 3 of the raid essence brings though.
What’s your rotation and opener looking like? I’m very curious to see if it can compete because I’m getting bored of the same ole build everyone is using.

Oh, earth shock when you can.
When Storm Ele isn’t up, it’s the usual: Stormkeeper > Flame Shock > Earth Shock > Lava Burst > Lightningbolt
I saw a guy on WCL running Storm Elemental / Visions and he was (at the time) doing very well with it being pretty competitive. Glad to see that people are trying it out.
I don’t know if I’ll switch for a little while unless it ends up being extremely good for Ashvane burn or something in relation to the current build.
I haven’t played it in awhile. Have you been having more fun with it?
Today got a random 445 shoulder, that pushed my ilvl to 431. But this caused me to drop from x3 IP to x2 IP. The drop from 3->2 IP was still a dps increase with the Echo/Mote/IF build. But only having 2 IP available, made the PE/SE/ER build shoot up the charts.
It went from about 1200 dps behind, to 200 dps ahead.
Slightly concerned about the lack of mobility compared to IF, but gonna give it a try.
Looking forward to hearing how well it works for you.
Honestly I was pretty bad.
I usually parse around 65% ilvl. Not great, but I feel respectable. Couldn’t really get back to that level. A lot of it is being used to the mobility of icefury, and mistiming some of my storm ele burn periods. So that is squarely on me.
There are a few fights I think I may switch back to IF for. The radiance one, for example. Those tornados just lock on to me.
The decree where you can’t use the same ability back to back. I was so not used to having to even worry about it, that I hit storm ele right as it came out. lol.
So yeah, a lot was on user error. So I am not giving up yet.
Gonna give it another week or so (depending on gear upgrades, if it flips me back or not).
I’ve had some really good results with it on some fights, but the no-repeat decree is terrible. I do poorly on that fight with this spec. Azshara is also rough, as the M+ pewpew beam is required by my guild to nuke the giant add swarm, and there’s just so much movement to soak wards that screws with the spec.
I think the spec really benefits from Azshara’s Font of Power trinket. If I get the Shivara trinket and/or the Leviathan’s trinket this week from mythic, I probably have to swap back.
I kind of want to try this build tonight. I assume it is the regular build with Storm Elemental + Primal Elementalist?
Are IP azerite traits desirable with this build? I assume visions essence as major? Any other synergies to consider?
Ive been running it with Tectonic thunder in M+ pulling 200k+ on huge packs with lvl 3 blood of the enemy. crazy dmg
Great week for padding aoe.
Alright so I finally want to give this build a shot. Specifically major essence = visions with Storm Elemental and Primal Elementalist. I have a few questions I have not messed with Storm Ele much this whole expansion.
-
Is it worth spamming lightning bolts when visions procs? It is for about 10 seconds so I assume you just do your normal rotation?
-
Is it correct that no pet micro management needs to be done outside of manually using Eye of the Storm? Regarding EotS I assume you only bother casting it when there are multiple mobs since it is a channel? If so, a rough idea on how many mobs makes this worth it?

What is the best way to track when Storm Elemental is up? With Weak Aura I can track the manual usage pretty easy based on the cast. However, it doesn’t seem to create an “aura” for to use with the visions proc. As a workaround I made a weak aura that appears when Wind Gust is usable which would indicate my Ele is up. It doesn’t track time and is kind of annoying. Any tips on this?
I think those are my main questions. I also know it is probably best to avoid this build on heavy movement fights since you cant sit and spam LB.
I would use EotS regardless if it is ST or cleave. Just make sure it is after SE casts twice to get the dmg inc.
This is off topic, but I would just like to say I was so excited to see a Kul Tiran Shaman at max level so I could take a look at how they appear in decent armor.
Then I saw your Swedish Chef meets King Hippo transmog and I cried. It’s amazing, but what a swift kick in the mouth…
Thanks, looks like someone already made a WA for EotS with LS activation. I’ll just use that for now and see how it goes.
