Why aren’t you using it in aoe scenarios? Have you never had a pack live past your first burst?
Hammer is and always has been a great way to get more holy power to spend.
to me its funny, supatease made an early video about what tier set each spec wants, when he got to ret he legit went “S3 trash, S1 meh, S2 omg this was op ya thats the pick” and moved on from ret in seconds compared to other specs.
hammer is only used if you have literally nothing else to press in any aoe scenario… that happens very rarely with enough haste
why would you prefer a set that grants an aoe bonus that does nothing 90% of the time in aoe scenarios over a set that offers a significant gain in any scenario?
You don’t really press how in AOE because it doesn’t do AOE damage lmao.
Even with the S2 set it’s target capped and still sucks.
Of course, so did every other high rated Ret.

without season 2 you don’t press HoW in aoe unless everything is on cd and it feels bad.
with s2 you do press HoW in aoe and it feels good…

thats just wrong… with s2 HoW also applies judgement and always crits… it hits the same number of targets as target capped blade/judge/crusader, why would you not hit it…
Thats not why S3 or S1 are better its because S2 is hard capped at 5 targets in aoe making it very weak in m+, unless you pull pack to pack but that rarely happens m+ always becomes big pulls hard capping us to 5 is not a good idea, even with HOW crit its still only 20% on secondary targets while for example blade of justice will do more because even though it does reduced damage after 5 targets it still will hit those targets while HOW will do zero damage

Your opinion on PvP is as relevant as someone’s opinion on M+ is when their highest timed key is a +11. That’s all I’m saying. Every single PvP Ret in the game wants S2 for PvP, or even S1, over S3. S3 tier is a disaster for Ret in PvP.

would you rather press boj, dealing 40k + dot to everything or hammer, dealing 50k to one, 25k to 4 mobs and nothing to everything else

It’s different, the only difference in season 3 for me is pressing boj before judgement. Thats it. Thats all season 3 tier is.

there is no difference in playstyle, just a worse set bonus

my BoJ hits for 50% of what judge and HoW hit for and all of them are capped to 5 targets
