Its pretty annoying that I can run at a healer for hours and get nowhere beucause I provide every debuff/ tool in the game besides the most important for PvP which is some form of MS. If they are doing a templar Hero tree next exp please add MS… Such a simple fix for the spec and effective.
Been pointing out for quite some time that for pvp, Ret lacking instant mobility, disarm, mortal strike, and healing for a 16th of someone health with WoG or FoL puts us in a really bad spot.
Most noticable Vs specs that disarm us, have mortal strikes, more cc than us, instant mobility, and heal in their damage rotation very effectivly AND do more damage than us. Even worse with bonus damage to us from the pvp Armor nerf on plate, Outlaw, WW Monk, and BM are eating well.
I dont really understand the thought process for Devs leaving the spec imbalance so heavily off. DH, non-assa Rogues, and Monks are out here living their best lives destroying folks because they have every tool for success.
Ret isnt the only spec that needs a design philosophy change. Frost DKs and Feral players also seem to really have gotten the short end of the tuning/design stick for pvp viability.
Several specs are more middle of the road doing some things very well while having a weakness to exploit offering counterplay. Something like MM doing great damage, great CC, has stealth, but suffers if focused. But a DH, Monk, any Priest, or BM hunter seems to actually want you to waste time trying to harm them.
For PVP the Tank and Healer imbalance is equally obvious.
Specifically the lack of MS issue could be a pvp talent. Since Ret has many pvp talents being 80% nerfed versions of their fomer selves, and the least amount of pvp talents in the game. Make it a useful movement/MS combo: PVP talent X, 30 second CD, rush your target, applying 50% MS for 15 seconds, dealing X holy damage. Enemys who recieve cacoon would still stop being the target, folks using their instant mobility to flee to Narnia would still stop being the target if they fled as soon as it was applied.
Just kinda sick of needing to follow a teammate who applys MS so my damage has sticking power, when I should be following my healer so the healer and I dont die.
Highly wouldn’t recommend MS being a PvP talent, We already have terrible choices and would hate to see some of the MUST HAVE pvp talents being exchanged for MS, UNLESS they attach it to Lawbringer which would be decent, It needs to have a 100% uptime like every other class. Literally just add it to BoJ, Judgement, or TV.
They do not care. Your post is worthless. It doesn’t work. They do not care.
Hpal is broken and is the worst healer out there.
Ret will never be the same.
Tanking is barely ok in pve.
Our class is unfortunately just left to ruin and they know it. The hero talents coming are even more of a joke. Listen I love paladin. I main Hpal, but it’s such a joke.
Pretty cringe response.
You’re being dramatic
Go to their offices and ask why does ret and enh have to play without ms? Because I find zero reason for it
Not trying to flame, but does every class need a mortal strike now? Ret has utility that mortal strike classes do not. This may be an oversimplification of the intricacies of class roles in pvp, but all classes should bring something unique to the battlefield and we can’t just normalize everything. Going out on a limb here, but imagine if mortal strike warriors had ret utility? It would break the game
If you are gonna come with this suggestion the remove mortal would from 90% of specs. But
When 90% of melee hace mortal wound and ret/enh are still lacking then you have to give it to them
Really not trying to create any hate here, but would you give something up for the ability to mortal wound?
Death knights don’t have an MS unless i am wrong.
Hmm well unholy has a pvp talent that’s a healing absorb that heals them too. 3% that can stack up to 6 times but new stacks do no refresh duration. It’s pretty good. Most people take it I think.
Many classes do have mortal strike, but not necessarily every spec. There’s a lot of give and take with it for the most part
Honestly, there really isn’t. =/
Most classes have similar toolkits nowadays and while giving Ret an MS might increase their relevance in the short term, it would probably normal out quite quickly.
Paladin healing isn’t amazing, it’s comparable to most, and even less than those of Warlocks and DHs. You can watch Vanguards even talk about Mage Barriers providing more “healing” than Paladins do.
Paladin crowd control isn’t anything higher than anyother classes.’
- Stormbolt + Shockwave
- Chaos Nova + Fel Eruption
- Maim + Bash
- Kidney + Cheap Shot
- Asphyxate + Pet stun
The duration of the amount of time being stunned is pretty much 5 sec across the board, its just that most other classes do so in 2 stuns rather than 1. While there is a drawback to having that extra GCD…
All of these stuns are physical, which means they can’t be dispelled by ALL healers, and being different abilities allows more flexibility in usage. I can Stormbolt a healer and Shockwave the DPS, etc…
Similar, every class has some other form of CC:
- Intimidating Shout
- Sigil of Fear
- Cyclone
- Blind
- Blinding Sleet
And yet again, all the above abilities are physical, meaning they can’t be dispelled by every healer in the game.
And finally utility, just to blow through it…
- BoP = Darkness, Rally, AMZ, etc…
- BoSanc = Disarm, Banner, Detainment, Strangulate, etc…
There’s really nothing paladins have that’s “better” than most other classes healing, control or utility wise. Every class has it’s niche.
The only problem with Ret Paladins compared to these other classes is the skill ceiling. It’s much much easier to DPS on a Paladin than say a Feral, but that’s an issue with the combat system more so than any PvP mechanic.
I wouldnt give up a thing to get ms. Its long overdue.
My idea of the perfect way to implement ms is as it follows.
Remove ms from all specs
Add ms to some/all but make them work in very specific windows (like sharpen blade).
Ie. For ret wake of ashes applies mortal wound for 5 seconds idk. Or make peoole spend a talent to get ms (like sharpen blade).
Blizzard went out of their way to give ms to dh (lmao) feral and somehow left ret and enh without it. The only two melee without ms (yes dks have healing absors).
Not really, unless the two different MS effects stack. As it stands now Ret has an MS because to do damage they bring someone to provide that utility. RET having MS would just mean that we could have any partner instead of requiring one with mortal strike.
