Pretty sure its centering around the dragons…but whatever floats your boat to come up with something to complain about I guess
It is one of the main things. We literally go there with the Explorer’s League and Reliquary.
We’re going there with the League and Reliquary to study and learn about the Isles and the dragons.
We are going there because the dragons have invited us there to help them deal with the threats they are having because the island has woke back up.
And we’re going there with the League and the Reliquary.
Ok? That doesn’t mean its centered around them. We went with the Knights of the Ebon Blade to Shadowlands, and it wasn’t centered around them at all.
Part of going there with them is to study and learn about their history, culture, and there’s Titan architecture there. The League and Reliquary aren’t just sailing there with us to drop us off and go bye bye.
I have a lot of complicated feeling about archeology. I don’t want to over-romanticize how much I was enjoying grinding pristine achievements. And world quests (back when they were more fun) tended to fill the same niche archeology served when it first came out of getting me back out in the world. But I do miss it and a side distraction out in the world and as a finite little grind for each alt (before skill gains were nerfed in BFA).
I think it would have worked better if it was an account-wide activity rather than a “per character” activity.
I enjoyed archeology more than I’ve enjoyed mining or herbalism since WoD.
I don’t know how popular it was across the rest of the community, so it’s not I hill I wanted to die on.
The continued heavy archeology theme to the game though makes it very confusing why it would be abandoned as a profession.
