this guy gets it ^.
the chinese and EU markets have made up the bulk of the wow subs/numbers for a long time. NA/OCE/Latam have always been in the minority for numbers. 70% being chinese currently, im not so sure on, but considering the length of time its beginning to get things done in Qs ( BG Qs, LFRs, amount of groups trying to form for M+ [ its literally like a third of what i was seeing in Legion ]), and how slowly the recruiting pool for raiding is beginning to slowly dry up, that could be in the realm of accuracy ( possibly ). so there could be truth in it.
i could of sworn even blizz said theres a Team A and a Team B. its why every second xpack has been a trash fire since wotlk.
wotlk = good.
cata = bad.
MOP = good.
WOD = bad.
Legion = good.
BFA = bad.
like i mean… it holds up. it does make sense. and there is some really good stuff sprinkled in this xpack. the invasions are fun. the sporatic world pvp that pops up in them has been some of the best fun of this xpack. islands themselves can be fun, but there reward structure is terrible. azerite gear is an absolute trash fire that i never want to see the back of again. warfronts i have no idea who they designed this crap for in the first place. if they were essentially BGs ( ie pvp warfronts ) they could be a lot more fun, but BGs since the dawn of time have been filled with people just trying to go for kills instead of doing objectives to win, so pvp warfronts could of ended up like OG AV with matches lasting days because nobody is doing objectives and just fighting ( and lagging ) in mid.
the sheer volume of slot machine RNG casino bullcrap in the game means im just playing for the " chance " of getting something useful. its like blizz are trying to design this game to shower you with crap loot to spike your dopamine about getting loot, but its all vendor trash. much like D3. so much rains from the heavens but 99% of the time its garbage.
as a previous poster said, blizz designing the game around mega grinds is fine, as long as the reward is pre-determined so that you know what your working towards, not RNG crap.
other than the reward structure being a sham, and azerite gear being a trashfire of a system. the important part that seriously needs to be addressed is class systems. this is some of the most shallow gameplay this game has ever had this xpack. now you can have a clear defined class system with few buttons and it still be compelling gameplay. this is one thing guild wars 2 does extremely well. you have 10 ( well 15 technically ) buttons on your bars and it being very involved. and with the way there talent trees work with there prestige system it has so much complexity and customisation that YOU get to build your class how YOU want to play it. and on top of that they have a very rich and engaging ( and deterministic ) crafting/profession system in there game. if any other developer manages to combine all of the good parts to all of the MMOs they will have a powerhouse game to put on the market.
blizz need to stop getting in the way of players having a good time. Legion would of probably been heralded as the second coming if they had just put in the 7.3 legendary system from the start of legion so that you could buy and earn your legendaries instead of LOLOLOLOLRNGLOLCASINO. and if they never implemented the NLC ( and didnt carry that garbage as the primary class system this xpack with azerite gear ).
blizz need to design the game for a fun and engaging experience instead of MAU spreadsheets for there stockholders. players will play the game if its fun. and as we can all see, if you make the game unfun and filled with time consuming disrespect systems filled with RNG nobody wants to play that and they will all leave. if you build it they will come.
