Retail Playerbase is 70% Chinese According to Blizzard Employee

Well, I wouldn’t actually put all feedback actually on the positive side as well, there has been quite a few bad feedback by some people that have well, I would’ve been angry too if it was feedback towards my game. But there is a lot of feedback about the game, and a lot of them really do state on how peoples experience in this game has turned them off.

For example, sometime just after the full launch of BfA, a MVP Created a thread with incredible feedback about how everything was rushed too much. And with out much has changed in BfA to before BfA, and it all was done quite fast, we ended up with a lot of stuff being broken and buggy in the expansion. And look at it today, there is still a lot of stuff broken. And despite all the feedback and reports of it, nothing has been fixed.

So ofcourse, the community is going to give negative feedback about the game when stuff like this happens.

this guy gets it ^.

the chinese and EU markets have made up the bulk of the wow subs/numbers for a long time. NA/OCE/Latam have always been in the minority for numbers. 70% being chinese currently, im not so sure on, but considering the length of time its beginning to get things done in Qs ( BG Qs, LFRs, amount of groups trying to form for M+ [ its literally like a third of what i was seeing in Legion ]), and how slowly the recruiting pool for raiding is beginning to slowly dry up, that could be in the realm of accuracy ( possibly ). so there could be truth in it.

i could of sworn even blizz said theres a Team A and a Team B. its why every second xpack has been a trash fire since wotlk.

wotlk = good.
cata = bad.
MOP = good.
WOD = bad.
Legion = good.
BFA = bad.

like i mean… it holds up. it does make sense. and there is some really good stuff sprinkled in this xpack. the invasions are fun. the sporatic world pvp that pops up in them has been some of the best fun of this xpack. islands themselves can be fun, but there reward structure is terrible. azerite gear is an absolute trash fire that i never want to see the back of again. warfronts i have no idea who they designed this crap for in the first place. if they were essentially BGs ( ie pvp warfronts ) they could be a lot more fun, but BGs since the dawn of time have been filled with people just trying to go for kills instead of doing objectives to win, so pvp warfronts could of ended up like OG AV with matches lasting days because nobody is doing objectives and just fighting ( and lagging ) in mid.

the sheer volume of slot machine RNG casino bullcrap in the game means im just playing for the " chance " of getting something useful. its like blizz are trying to design this game to shower you with crap loot to spike your dopamine about getting loot, but its all vendor trash. much like D3. so much rains from the heavens but 99% of the time its garbage.

as a previous poster said, blizz designing the game around mega grinds is fine, as long as the reward is pre-determined so that you know what your working towards, not RNG crap.

other than the reward structure being a sham, and azerite gear being a trashfire of a system. the important part that seriously needs to be addressed is class systems. this is some of the most shallow gameplay this game has ever had this xpack. now you can have a clear defined class system with few buttons and it still be compelling gameplay. this is one thing guild wars 2 does extremely well. you have 10 ( well 15 technically ) buttons on your bars and it being very involved. and with the way there talent trees work with there prestige system it has so much complexity and customisation that YOU get to build your class how YOU want to play it. and on top of that they have a very rich and engaging ( and deterministic ) crafting/profession system in there game. if any other developer manages to combine all of the good parts to all of the MMOs they will have a powerhouse game to put on the market.

blizz need to stop getting in the way of players having a good time. Legion would of probably been heralded as the second coming if they had just put in the 7.3 legendary system from the start of legion so that you could buy and earn your legendaries instead of LOLOLOLOLRNGLOLCASINO. and if they never implemented the NLC ( and didnt carry that garbage as the primary class system this xpack with azerite gear ).

blizz need to design the game for a fun and engaging experience instead of MAU spreadsheets for there stockholders. players will play the game if its fun. and as we can all see, if you make the game unfun and filled with time consuming disrespect systems filled with RNG nobody wants to play that and they will all leave. if you build it they will come.

after seeing the video of Blizzards people on twitch blaming the players its just more proof of how out of touch they are with the customers I mean its one thing if a few of us are unhappy but when you get to the point where the community is so negative that your developers are feeling frustrated because of the aforementioned negativity then its obvious there is something seriously wrong with your product

Considering over 20% of the entire world’s population lives in China, why would this be a shock even if it were true?

Some may doubt this, which is understandable, but it makes a lot sense.

Blizzard stated in a press interview last Blizzcon they have more mobile projects in the works, and the future of the company will have a mobile pressence. Why? Likely because they have a large Chinese Audience.

WoW being 70% Chinese is not in the least bit surprising to me. Before Classics announcement, if you ever peered into the Twitch or Mixer directories of World of Warcraft, a majority of the content creators were Chinese.

How do you come up with a sub figure from an active players playing at ‘x’ time of day ?

Actually it depends some pay more, last time i checked it cost around 13 bucks a month for sub there has went up since 2016 …but a lot still go to an internet cafe and pay by hour…

I wish the launching of Classic would mean the horrible classic community would remain in game and not troll the forums.

But we all know that won’t be true.

cool, who cares? not me… that’s definetely true.

Heck the huge player jump from Vanilla happened after they released it in China.

Well sure, why wouldn’t they? I mean they already have hearthstone mobile. Heck Activision Blizzard bought King which is a 100% mobile company.

Actually mobile is the thing in most of the world and even the US. In 2017 the mobile game industry surpassed console games in sales numbers.

Also I think there are a lot of die hard PC master race people who see Blizzard as a PC game company and get offended when they work on non-PC games, but Blizzard has always been a console/PC company. They just had a stint of really good PC games for a few years, but even most of those were also on consoles.

Population USA: 325 million
Population China: 1.3 billion

Makes sense that the majority of WOW playerswould be in China. They have the majority of gamers period. 500 Million of them. More than a third of the country’s population.

I don’t know if the numbers are right, they could very well be correct.

But i do know this…

The North American player have asked for a lot of things and the vast majority of it is ignored, “You think you do, but you don’t”

But, the Chinese censor bones being displayed on any model. So Blizzard went back and redid the Undead models as well as many of the zones that displayed bones. What kind of player base clout do you have to have to get Blizzard to go back and change anything. They also make a special version for China that their modeling has no bones.

I feel like there is a difference in the player base asking for something, and the Chinese government saying “if you dont do this, you can’t release your game”.

It’s never a Blizzard employee. Don’t be naive.

Someone is just spreading more misinformation, same as always with these “blizzard employees.”

It’s just some bored dude with too much time on his hands.

Dear Team 2,

If you’d like me to be less negative about BfA, then don’t ever design an RNG-riddled, terribly written expac with classes that have the complexity of an old Nintendo game AGAIN.

Also to the dude that designed BfA Arcane: I wish bad things upon you and your family for generations to come.

We better not impose any MMO tariffs.

without solid number or some real proof meaning more than some rando on twitch. Otherwise this is just speculation.
