Retail Bots vs. Classic Bots?

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen bots in Retail BfA expansion.

Won’t lie I use to sell gold back in vanilla threw to cata when I was going threw university made about 600 - 800$ a week back then doing it those accounts all got banned back in cata and by that time I was out in the workplace so had no need to keep doing it. The botting issue is bad on both retail and classic but the only way to stop it is for people to stop paying real money for gold and carry services and until then it will continue to happen

Got a link in this thread that shows em

What would be the reason for bots? Some players most likely bot but most bots we see in Classic are farming gold to sell. Gold selling is almost all dead in Retail since the introduction of tokens. I dont doubt there are working bots in retail.

That’s why.

I don’t doubt it. However, they seem less prevalent in Retail or they are less obvious to spot.

Yeah a few other posters brought up that sharding helps them out I guess.

Like they just find a an empty shard and coast.

i only come across bots in town advertising for their websites to buy gold or w.e. but other then that i dont see many. i see a few multiboxers here and there which im fine with since it’s technically okay plus in pvp they suck anyways they get steam rolled XD.

in classic idk if they are bots or what but i find a LOT of people multiboxing mages at the starting zone a LOT… also with retail gold is pretty much useless so easy to farm/get and used for xmog or mounts or w.e. unlike in classic it’s more demanding. plus you dont have flying in classic either making it more demanding.

So this happens in retail too…interesting.

Looks like they are just soft on bots in general…in both versions of the game…for both advertising and farming. It’s Diablo 2 all over again.

Harder to spot due to sharding but if you know the spots and how to shard swap you can find them. Just think that 1 bot artificially enjected 34 million gold into the servers economy and made money doing so. Now you know why we have items that sell on ah for 4.6 million gold

yea i literally report them and still see them around couplke hours later. same person advertising same websites.

im surprised they dont do anything yet when it came to private servers they were more quick with that to shut down the pservers. at this rate might as well same money and go back to a pserver. economy is going to hell in classic i assume with all the bots and only way i can think to fix it is to wipe servers clean which many players will hate because who tf wants to relevel and regrind what they had because blizz dont do their jobs?

It took them 14 years to shut down private servers just saying. As for doing more about bots I dont disagree with you the can, should do more about it but when people are going to throw money for gold or services botting will exist. Breaking into peoples houses and robbing them is punishable yet people still risk it for the $ as long as you can make $ people will do it

Didn’t Blizzard even created an item that cost over 1 million gold, Brontosaur mount?

It cost 5 mil yup

It’s a super cool mount. 5 million gold has to be a few hundred dollars. Way too much to spend on a pixel item.

What you mean? still pservers up and nostalrus got shut down fairly fast if im not mistaken due to it’s popularity compared to other pservers. also yes people do w.e. they want for money but it gets out of hand if nothing is being done/regulated.

yes pservers take some time to shut down that is a given but point is taking action sooner rather then later is what speeds up the process. just like with the bots. not taking action now is just destroying the economy, likely subs dropping, etc… then a week or so from now we see them doing something about it but by then damage is already done.

we are the customers we are literally paying for their services yet getting poop service for our hard earned money.

I rarely come accross bots.
But theirs a few reasons why retail doesnt have much of a need for bots …

  1. If you need to buy gold, you can buy a wow token instead of buying from a bot farming website.

  2. professions are pretty much meaningless. And the things you do need to craft you can easily get the mats through scrapping and gathering them yourself because professions dont need a required skill to gather anything.

  3. No rare items/recipes.
Professions dont have any rare items to make like for example: Lionheart Helm, devilsaur set, legendary weapons ect. Retail hasn’t had rare craftable items like this since TBC.

  4. leveling is extremely easy therefore paying a bot to farm a dungeon for you would be a complete and utter waste of gold.

  5. Consumables are EXTREMELY cheap to buy off AH as gathering is extremely easy to farm now. For example, the price for a flask on retail would be compared to probably 5g on classic lol and pots would be 1/2g

These 5 reasons are why theirs barely any bots on retail… their just isnt a need or point to having them.

Also the economy has been extremely broken since 3 expansions ago in WoD so dont have to worry about bots ruining the economy.

They don’t give a crap about bots in Classic it seems. I have reported two that are operating in Desolace farming Big Iron Fishing poles and selling them for next to nothing on the neutral auction house. It is as plain as day that they are bots and I have reported them several times.

UPDATE: After relentlessly reporting the bots, they finally disappeared about 2 months ago. The Big Iron Fishing Pole market does not seem to have recovered. You don’t need bots to make gold in WoW Clssic, you just need time and patience. And as long as you’re not trying to screw anybody it’s ethical too.

The only place that bots exist on Retail are in Nazjatar. They farm the herb that spawns there.
