Ret tree is horrid

I dislike like concercration being made apart of your rotation. Okay then there is a passively proc down one side, but the benefit are down the other. There is no clear way to spec a clear single dmg spec as, it’s spread out all over the tree.

To me, it feels like a jumbled mess. I swear they put all the abilities/spells in a hat and started drawing them out and just started putting them from the top. I’m sure they didn’t but it’s horrid imo. I feel like the BM tree got it right in the end as you can clearly spec one way or the other.

As I play multiple class/specs, like others I’m sure I really hope this isn’t going to be the norm moving forward for class trees. I’d much prefer the old ret tree to this.

I love the consecrate talents. Its finally some non burst aoe and at least the consecrate talents are things you interact with. They are the only fun part of the tree.

The placement can use some work though.

The Ret tree isn’t bad, just severely disorganized. The Paladin tree is definitely worst and probably will get a overhaul once Holy is implemented I assume.

Hot freaking mess, this guy gets it 100%. “Let’s take all the core paladin abilities, then make you spec into them with a totally randomized talent tree”. ~Bliz probably

This is the worst part of most trees tbh, its just a shame paladin has so many of the leveling perks as nodes of their own. I like the design of the new stuff though.

There’s a few things that need moved, but overall it’s in a pretty decent state for an alpha release. It could be a lot worse.

So many talents buffing consacration lmfao. Whos idea was this? also it looks like consac being part of our aoe rotation is gonna make us spec hard into aoe while losing tons of st.

I suspect nobody at Blizzard with any power cares much about paladins

We have options for different loadouts. ST vs AoE.

The tree does need more work, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not a complete disaster either.

This tree is simply disgusting. I have TO TALENT into AW? Are they drunk?? Didn’t they say something like: class tree = mostly utility?
Justicar’s Vengeance is STILL IN??? No Divine Protection but still this annoying SoV? Nah guys, I knew it would be bad but not that bad. I know it’s an empty threat for blizz but I won’t play such a mess. No DF for me if it stays like this.
Final Verdict at the end of the tree??? I’m really speechless.

Path of Ruin seems neat but doesn’t generate a single HoPo, Exo seems interestig but has the same problem. Seems to be there just as a fan service.

I’m really really REALLY disappointed with how talent trees worked out. They seem overly cluttered and very complicated. They desiged themselves into a corner with it.
We need more things baseline in general and lighter talent trees.

Edit: I just realized: ZERO group utility? Really? Even warriors seem to get the banner back. And we can’t get a ****ing raid buff? Or a raidwide DR?

I like the ret tree a lot.

Ret tree looks good.

There are a few things I like such as the new exorcism and that we have the option to talent into a few legendary/set effects but overall I’m not happy. Conc is not that fun to use and the majority of the talent choices seem boring compared to choices other classes get.

I’m also really not happy with the general paladin tree but that’s a discussion for another thread.

Comparitively to othe trees, ret has barely any multi point nodes, soooo you can basically get most of your tree to combo intoo some very stong abilities. Looks quite strong in reality.

No, it’s not a complete disaster, but it is somewhat hard to give feedback when things just feel like a scattered mess, simply because there’s no easy way to go about doing it in terms of layout.

For example, Exorcism vs Blades of Justice.

Exorcism does baked-in. what the BoJ talents do. Adds a burn effect to the ability, and spreads damage while on Consecration.

Clearly some paladins want Exorcism back, and it would just be better for Blizzard to acknowledge it as a fan service more so than trying to force in another ability.

Row one:

  • Improved Crusader Strike - 0/1
    • Crusader Strike now has 2 Charges.

Row Two:

  • Divine Storm - 0/1
    • Unleash a whirl of Divine Energy dealing Holy Damage to all enemies within 5 yards.

  • Blades of Justice or Exorcism - 0/1
    • 20 yard range - 12 sec cooldown
    • Pierces an enemy with a Blade of Light, dealing 150 Holy Damage.
    • Blast an enemy with Holy Energy, dealing 150 Holy Damage.

Row Three:

  • Highlord’s Judgement - 0/1
    • Increases Judgement’s damage by 10% and reduces its cooldown by 1 sec.

  • Fanaticism - 0/1
    • Your BoJ or Exorcism now generate 1 additional Holy Power and have a 5% chance to crit

  • Art of War - 0/1
    • Your auto attacks have a 12% chance to reset your BoJ or Exorcism.

Row Four:

  • Zeal - 0/1
    • Judgement empowers you with Holy Zeal, causing your next 3 auto attacks to occur 30% faster.

  • Righteous Verdict - 0/2
    • Templar’s Verdict increases the damage of your next Templar’s Verdict by 6/12% for 6 sec.

  • Expurgation - 0/2
    • Your BoJ or Exorcism now cause the target to burn for 12% of the damage dealt over 6 seconds.

The range Paladin build.

So this sets the tree up for the left to be heavily Judgement focused, with Divine Storm buffs, Fires of Justice and Empyrean Power being on this side, finally capping with Divine Toll.

The mid range Paladin.

The Middle to be heavily Templar’s Verdict focused, with early access to Final Verdict, along with Wake of Ashes and other misc spells, capping with Final Reckoning into Falling Sword.

The heavy melee Paladin.

The Right to be heavily BoJ focused, with Consecration, capping with Execution Sentence.

And this darn Tempest of the Lightbringer is back again. Is it so hard to just make a talent that increases DS damage by 20% and increases its radius by 10/20/30%? Throwing 20% Divine Storms is more of a hassle than anything.

This talent tree officially killed any hype I had for DF, good job.

lol the trees are soooo bad
like actually made me laugh out loud when I looked through it

it’s like…things people didn’t want to return are back and things they did want brought back are back but in the worst possible way…

Plus completely new talents nobody EVER asked for.
But I have to admit against the general hate for Cons, I like the talents enhancing it. Perhaps it finally becomes worthwhile to cast.

Also good to see that many problems are already adressed on the alpha thread.

Did any of you already mess around with the talent calculator on wowhead?

Feel free to post your loadouts.

Mine would be something like this so far:

It’s really a shame how much utility we have to sacrifice.

I personally dont see anything wrong with consecration being part of our rotation again i always thought it actually hasnt been used to much. Back in vanilla you always made sure you had it down. Thats just like exorcism that was taken away along time ago and brought back. I mean ya the arrangement isnt the best but so far its in the right direction bringing back paladin how it used to be.
