Honestly I enjoy it(A LOT, more than almost anything i’ve ever played in WoW) but there are times when I don’t have any buttons to push and everything is on cooldown. This is with inquisition up and like 30% haste Even with higher haste than this it still happens at least sometimes. The new minor effect from lucid dreams is pretty nice for this but not good enough. Inquisition does feel a bit like a seal imo. It would be nice if inquisition also increased healing by 7% like it does for damage. It’s a small change but it’d be nice. The new unbound freedom buff in pvp is freaking awesome.
Get the empyrean power azerite trait. This helps a lot. Also get the minor trait for the lucid dreams essence trait that will refund some of your holy power and SOMETIMES this results in a free templars verdict that feels very similar to divine purpose, which is awesome. I’m running this and calling it “poormans soul of the highlord” because I think the effect of the mechanic is pretty similar although slightly nerfed because it refunds holy power rather than just proccing a freebie. I’m running it with inquisition but it also works very well with crusade, running it with divine purpose kinda defeats the purpose for what I’m doing right now although I’ll switch at somepoint, I like to switch between inquisition, crusade, and divine purpose often. All 3 talents are fun for me so I play them all.
I think you’re right though. All 3 speccs of paladin should have auras(at least two auras each, preferably with each specc having auras specific to their role, ret having a dps aura, maybe like 1% crit chance for the group or 1% increased dmg, make paladins benefit slightly more from the aura as well, so maybe 2% for them), For prot paladins I would do like…maybe like…reduced damage based on a percentage of the prot paladins armor or something? Or maybe the prot paladin gains a percentage of their teams armor or something…Or maybe one that reduces the damage taken from magical spells and one that reduces physical damage, for holy I would do one that increases the groups mana regeneration by x% and one that increases spell magnitude by x% and definitely one that would work as a raid wide defensive cd.
I think we should also get blessings back. One of my favorite things about playing a paladin back in the day was having lots of cool buffs to give my party and raid. Now I only have one blessing of Wisdom and one Blessing of Kings. Imo paladin buffs should all duplicate themselves onto the paladin.
It feels frankly bizarre to play a holy paladin and not have a single buff to give out. You don’t even have to select different auras for different situations…
