Your claim is that the 13 or whatever ilvl bump from ulduar, is going to make rogues scale so hard, that their advantage over ret paladins on a spherical cow fight like patchwerk, is going to be 5-6k? After I just showed you that the difference right now is about 15-20%?
Let’s make the wild assumption that the rogue gets a 50% damage buff from that relatively small ilvl bump. So they’re pumping 11k damage instead of 7.4 . Is your assertion that your ret damage is going to not increase at all from ulduar gear?
theorycrafters think we’ll gaina bout 1000dps with our cap being south of 8k the next lowest would be arms warriors at around 9200 speculatively.
you picked one log from one fight of mine, looked at it for two minutes, you can’t seriously be using that as evidence of a wider trend. LMAO. get real

all you have to do is look at 95+ percentile on warcraft logs

Ret dps gains from Ulduar gear are going to be very modest. We just don’t scale as well with gear gains as other classes do.
In addition to that, we will see a further disadvantage in Ulduar, because none of the enemies are undead and several of our abilities depend on the enemy being undead. Crusade, Glyph of Sense Undead, Exorcism, and Holy Wrath.

like being a dragonslayer with no dragons to slay.
Our sim dps shows us about 7500 in ulduar gear. that’s like 1k dps max more than what we do now. Rogues are simming like what, 10k? more?
someone on the lightclub discord posted a wowsims speculative dps graph for p2 guess who’s at the bottom by 1300 dps and guess who’s at the top.
I don’t understand what the problem is here.
that’s cuz you’re a dk and your brain has rotted.

It’s whatever my team needs it to be brah.
Ulduar :
1% dmg loss due to sense undead glyph
3% due to crusade
1-2% due to exorcism
1% due to holy wrath
After ret compensates that, he still scales badly, so yes, ulduar increase for ret is super meh

Ret Paladins in SHAMBLES right now.
STONKS PLUMMETING.
Is the delta even relevant? All that matters should be arcane vs ret performance and if arcane can do more then bring it and drop the ret. You have a free slot so you can just fill that with a fire mage, aff lock, or whatever is pumping in Ulduar and that correcte the delta issue.
Even in casual guilds i dont recall rets in classic in meaningful sense. And for any harder encounter they were absolutely throwing on a dress and pressing FoL.
But that was classic where itemization honestly had a larger impact on throughput than talents.
But regardless with classic we actually got itterative application of patch states and class balance. If we had that same feature in wrath there would be no real issues with ret right now.
In other words, blizzards applied CHANGES to wotlk classic from its original itteration are what has adversely impacted ret paladin to the point of being useless. So it only makes sense for blizzard to also be the one to fix it.

Yes because it might not be worth to have the arcane switching to fire from a raid dps point. You have to compare their dps they gain from switching to fire over what they lose if they were to stay arcane and the ret was dropped instead.
