I have been doing much of what is being said in the forum but have died several times with Jarl at like 10% - actually just tonight managed to kill Jarl and then died shortly after to the overlapping mechanics with no CDs left. Anyone able to look at my gear on profile for any glaring oversites?
I am basically grouping and focusing Jarl the whole fight while interrupting. I noticed they do a overlap mechanic at ?20% and again at 5 min mark. I try to save bubble for this or BoP. Are you guys focusing Jarl too or primary targeting Sjogren with cleave on others?
Feel like I am just doing something wrong, at like 100 attempts. Consumables are:
Drums+Potion of Unbridled Fury
Any food
Augment rune
Have health pot, macros and DBM.
I have completed the fel bear challenge but gosh I just am really struggling here to finish the last bit
The DPS check is pretty tight. It doesn’t matter too much which one you focus on, though, since they all share health. It’s just more important to try to have them grouped up as much as possible for you to AoE them. To that end, you might want to swap Blade of Wrath for Empyrean Power. Those handful of extra free (and slightly more powerful) Divine Storms could help a bit.
Yea, it is quite tight dps check if you don’t have good time walking gear.
The 5min is the soft enrage timer. The bosses will try to use their signature spells every 30s after that, but if you are able to kill the Jarl before the 5min mark, you should be able to Repentance/Stun Siryn for her cast and damage shield after that.
If Jarl doesn’t die when soft enrage, it would be rough since you need to deal with Shield and Jarl enrage at same time, you can probably still survive 1,2 rounds by trading CDs, eg: Stun, Divine Shield/BoP, but it is going to be rough.
I’ll tell you how I did it as Tauren (with warstomp) and a little differently than most recommend:
Took short HoJ talent
Talents: 1212131
Shield of Veng.
Start fight>gather all up.
Pop cd’s.
Cleave.
Bubble jarls enrage, keep cleaving.
Warstomp jarls whirlwind and hoj Sigs cast so you lose no time on cleaving.
Shield of veng and wings are back at this same time. Use them ASAP.
Cleave.
At some point things get hectic, use BoP.
Bubble will rotate back up for next need of it and fight should be close to over.
It’s been a while so I don’t remember all the specifics, but basically you need to look at the fight as a giant DPS check. If you don’t have tricked out timewalking gear, shadowmourne, trinkets that scale really well, etc. you’re going to be hurting for damage and need to maximize everything. As soon as I stopped looking at the fight as a test of mechanics and more as a test of how much dps you can pump by playing as aggro as possible I beat it. Also prob want to get crusader enchant as I heard it’s a game changer but I didn’t have it as I wasn’t aware when I did it so can’t speak from personal experience on it. I found haste>crit>mastery>versa to be the best for dps personally.
I am using Crusader and it’s awesome - great healing and DPS. OK - haven’t considered it from such a DPS check perspective. Will try some of the above tips and push some more DPS out as I have gotten to the 5 min mark on multiple attempts and was trying to rotate CDs to keep going but, as you have said, I think it’s meant to be finished or close to it around this point
As you all suggested, I needed more DPS. I finished it at 4:40 sec before the 5 min enrage using above talents.
For those struggling,
Go get the Ravaged Seed Pod trinket was 10% of my DPS! 2nd only behind Divine Storm - it took me 5 min to get, it’s first boss in Emerald Nightmare not far from Dalaran and MT. Can run it on LFR/Normal/H/Mythic until you get it, took me only 2 tries.
So I spent the night casually progressing this fight, but seem hardstuck around 35-40% (around 3 minute mark)… right around the time that there’s a rough “overlap” of valkyries + shield or enrage + shield and I “just barely” can’t pop the shield in time (wipe)
You mentioned in your guide you stacked lots of haste for this?? Because your armory shows only 6% haste… unless you did the challenge in a different set of gear? I’m confused.
What were your stats inside the instance, so I know what gems to buy
Yeah I bought cheapest haste gear off AH I could find, used a haste food buff, and enchanted my weapon with quick navigation (would do crusader in hindsight though). I kept my gear pieces with gems slots and gemmed speed gems, use a sharpening stone, drums, and potions of unbridled fury. I don’t remember my exact stats though, just what I was shooting to get. If you are dying at that overlap part without bubble available then don’t use bubble at the start like I said. Just kite Jarl or use BoP instead.
IDK, everyone seems to find what works them and does this challenge a little differently so figure out what works best for you but personally I found haste and a mindset of “pump damage to end the fight as fast as possible” to work. Prior to that I was saving cd’s to be safe, running on whirlwind, etc. and just did not have the damage. I’d really recommend getting this if you can and wish I had thought of it:
Yeah I’m not a fan of kiting the dude (DPS loss), but just might have to do that and save my bubble for the troublespot around 3:15-3:20
Sucks that this alt is just a boring Human, so no convenient “built-in” stun to cheese the Whirlwind mechanic
The thing about the bubble is it’s a 1-shot, so once he’s in the process of casting it I have to drop what I’m doing and swap to him - it’s tough/stressful with like 3 other mechanics happening at the same time in the background.
Hey everyone, just got it down after 73 wipes and in 5 minutes 41 seconds, just barely beat the 6 min enrage. What a hectic fight lol
@Exalter, you were right, I needed to hold my bubble until later when the fight REALLY turned into a huge -show with multiple overlapping mechanics.
I held/saved my bubbles for the first enrage and simply HoJ’ed + kited him, this allowed me to have those 2 emergency buttons for later on when there’s enrage + other going off at the same time.
Bubble saved me from a bad runes + valkyries overlap, and BoP allowed me to facetank the enrage guy during a runes overlap. Once I got past that chaotic 3:30-3:45 minute mark “hump” the rest of the fight went smooth.
Just goes to show that good planning/timing of CDs can actually make a huge difference. It did for me anyways, once I switched up the order of what CDs would be popped when I started getting 25-30% wipes… then I cleaned up my attempts a bit and got it down to 22-23% wipes, then finally the kill at 20%
For what it’s worth, for those who might still be doing attempts/lurking these boards, my stats inside the instance were
16% Crit
22% Haste
46% Mastery
4% Vers
Nice little Christmas present to myself, 6/7 now w00t
