Even if Ret wasn’t at its current tuning people would of played it anyway because it got a substantial rework.
If any other specs had gotten sweeping changes this patch you would of seen active participation go up for those as well. Nothing to surprised about honestly.
Ret was pretty miserable in the previous SL “copy pasta” that we got going into DF. Losing all the covenant abilities didn’t function well with how prevalent priests are to counter our main survivability with a simple mass dispel. Defensives and def healing really did need a boost.
That being said I suspect a good number of these players will still play if we get nerfed. A lot of the FOTM rerollers will disappear and Ret mains will continue on like we always do.
Why be so hostile and rude? Pointing out the stats isn’t a bad thing and I find it kind of interesting. I main a dk, will keep playing my dk, but I’m on the FOTM for now. I’m also well aware of how frustrating it is for people to face rets, it’s been very rough in 3s. This isn’t any different than how it was with rogues and warriors in the past.
The survivability increase would of been enough to make Ret mains want to queue again 100%.
I know for me personally I pushed to 2400 in SS after the nerfs to Radiant were already in place, but had no desire to play past that because it was miserable. Every game was just focus the Ret, and every ranged class has zero issue kiting me 50% of the game if not more.
I can’t even count the number of times I had to trinket shield openers against me, only to still have to use Bubble and then watch it get stripped off 0.5 seconds later and die.
I agree. I really liked the initial build where we could run 2 charges of BoJ at 2 hp each.
The core of the spec was more focused around resetting BoJ and keeping consistent pressure rolling with Expurgation. I think that playstyle would of been wayyyy healthier for the meta and less burst dependent.
Oh for sure. If ret stayed exactly the same in terms of damage and JUST got divine protection usable while stunned (basically a warlock wall, or better version of barkskin on a 1 minute cd) then the class wouldve been made WAY stronger.
Instead it also got spell bop, a buff to SOV, and a soul leech absorb with fouble tbe strength… AND a 40% damage increase with twice as many one shot windows with fewer globals of setup
you forget people test these changes out on ptr and know WELL ahead of time that they are going to be broken? that’s why DAY ONE of 0.7 you see rets in every lobby. it’s definitely not just because of rework, friend. all druid specs got reworked you dont see every spec of druid in arena every match, do you?
