Maybe you are right, because ret’s rotation pre rework was a clunkfest. Having essentially all your generators generating 2 hp per global(AND CLEAVING) is super smooth.

From what I’ve heard, in interviews they have said they intend for the ring to be replaced by season 2 gear. As it is, it is apparently about a 418 ilvl equivalent for single target only.
Personally, this sounds like a good catch-up item for alts you want to raid with, and I will only be investing the time for those characters.
I think the ring is better than a 418. I’ve seen anywhere from 4k-7k ST, with the AOE stones, and 7k-10k AOE.
Just going off of some of the things I’ve read. Haven’t tested it myself, but I hope it’s that weak because the last thing I want or need is more busy work to keep a character relevant.
the AoE stones are representing 10% of my damage in M+;
(Storm+Twilight+Desirous)
In single it is 7% (Frost+Twi+Desirous)
I don’t think any available ring can represent that much damage by itself.
