Resto Shaman Totem Spec

I would love nothing more than to play the spec that uses and is named after Totems. I feel like farseer procs Stormstream totem SO MUCH MORE than totemic even without using ancestral swiftness. I also feel like downpour never gets any time to shine, and that was the same its so bad cause it looks so good.

What are some thoughts/ways that they could improve totemic spec? I want to play it and I kind of like having to move surging totem around because it gives me more actionable gameplay.

I’m all about the aesthetic of this class so I cant play anything else. Thoughts?

farseer should have been totemic with the ancestors being totems instead. huge class fantasy failure. extremely sad that totemic isnt actually even the totem spec now

I am somewhat determined to try and make totemic work. At least for as long as I can! I enjoy using downpour and seeing healing rain down on the ground too much. My groups will have to stand in healing rain if they want heals, or I will just make sure that I always run majority melee dps. I feel like Blizz will make changes because they dont want to see specs that they did put work into not being played. Its just a matter of figuring out the ways to make them as comparable as possible.

I like your idea about the spirits as totems, and I kind of agree. The healing rain/totem shouldve remained focus to both specs imo and the spirit spec shouldve gotten some extra spirit stuff and the totemic spec shouldve gotten extra totems.

Another option would be to add some stuff to baseline resto shaman toolkit and change the talents altogether. Idk. I just want the coolest looking abilities possible and I dont want to have to sacrifice competitiveness to get it.

Lets cross our fingers!

What work did blizz put into rsham this xpac? All they did was take stuff away.

I saw a talent yesterday that said it affected Earthen Wall Totem, which we don’t even have any more lol. They put 0 work into this spec.

Well they did remove whispering waves last minute.. which I think could have stayed but just not been a main focus build.
The point of this post was to ask what ways/changes might feel/look good.

I love playing around the storm conduit talent in pvp. I would love to see it come to pve, specifically for totemic.

I honestly hate the farseer gameplay so I strictly play totemic.

Not sure how they could give us more totems without also giving them to farseer with how hero talents are designed, unless you shove them in the hero talents somewhere.

I feel making storm conduit a totemic hero talent would be a good start so we can cast more totems… the 1 or 2 we have

As you should be! If your interest and passion lie with it then by all means you CAN make it work.

games are about fun. If you aren’t having fun, what’s even the point?!?

Totemic works just fine. It’s true Farseer procs stormstream more frequently but totemic buffs your totems so much that the end result is roughly equal as far as apex performance is concerned which is actually what you want balance wise.

Are you saying you don’t think totemic is cool enough?

I think the storm conduit PvP talent brought to PvE would be incredible. Sometimes PvP gets the most fun talents. Remember avenging crusader started as a PvP talent.

Just looked at the storm conduit talent, and I do think that would be nice to have.

I like Totemic I just want to use downpour and its not in the meta build. I will be trying to run totemic for as long as it’ll hold out. It would also be nice if the shield buff could be applied to off-handers as well.

I love the totemic theme and playstyle and can’t stand farseer yet here I am having to use farseer because it’s much farther ahead in healing.

Healing rain, acid rain, healing tide and downpour aren’t apart of any builds anymore and they need to be. Chain heal doesn’t feel good and now playing M+ as farseer just results in spamming riptide and healing wave. Worst part is I have the whole 5-man party blanketed in riptides and I still have riptide to cast so I am just casting riptide on a target who already has it to proc the 6% stone totem. Who thought that this was fun?

Blizzard needs to smarten up and unprune some of the pruning and start buffing some of their spells so they become viable. Outside of ascendance there isn’t much for gameplay or ability to top up health bars.

I agree with this ten fold. Im also really big on the aesthetics of it all. Like even if the downpour bubble effect surrounded totems or players while the totem was active..idk. Just something cool and nice and fun =)

Well looking at Archon data it looks to me like Totemic is healing more in M+ than Farseer. Limited data for certain but I just don’t think totemic is bad.

I am seeing 73% farseer on archon and the wowhead resto guide says “Currently Farseer is considerably ahead of Totemic due to better interactions with our stronger cooldown. While Totemic builds can remain somewhat competitive playing Ascendance over Healing Tide Totem the tree doesn’t support it as well as Farseer does.”

I tried playing totemic in M+ but it was even more dull than farseer, you get surging totem but no downpour and your chain heals feel super weak. I swapped back to farseer.

Like I said above resto shaman needs a rework and needs it core spells buffed so they can become viable to use in builds and less focus on riptide/healing wave spam. Essientially just a poor mans druid casting rejuv/regrowth

I hate the theme of farseer. It’s just not enjoyable to me. As far as suggestions. I would like to see tidal waves work with lightning bolt and chain lightning. I feel like many procs get wasted sometimes due to the sheer volume of riptides farseer throws out.

I also feel that with the heavy tide/water theme of resto that we should have a builder/spender mechanic. Ya know, ebb and flow sort of thing. Build up a swell and unleash a big heal or something, maybe build up to a healing tide…IDK feels on theme to me.

I would love to see burrow in the class tree as well as storm conduit.

Side note, give me something to change my ghostwolf to more than wolves, raptors, and a goofy fox. And let me change my totem appearances. Druids have a million customization options. Throw us a bone ffs.

Give us a glyph for flame shock and lava burst already. I’m tired of our main dps mechanic being the complete opposite of water/storm.

I disagree, water theme is for healing spells. Doing dps is not a healing spell and the fire + lightning for dps + earth for protection fits the theme perfectly and make us a “master of the elements”. Want a glyph for earth shield and earth elemental as well?

Shamans are the masters of the elements. No matter what spec you play, you can access all of the elements.

Brother, fire is the antithesis of water. Theres a reason Pandas are Tu Shui (Earth and Water) while Huo Jin are Fire and metal. When you are trying to be a tidesage (Kul’tiran resto shaman) flame shock and lava burst make no sense lol.

Also “master of the elements” yeah you can do that, not every Shaman is the avatar. Many Shamans specialize in certain elements.

As for your comment about Earth shield. YEAH there should be glyphs for more elemental customization but thats not as egregious as flame shock and lava burst.

Flame shock and Lava burst can be given a Boiling water or Electric infused water thematic and it wouldn’t change how they function.

Exactly, they are opposite ideas. Just like hps and dps. Thanks for proving my point.

You’re missing the point completely, if they’re going to force the Tidesage thematic onto Kul’tiran Shamans then there should be a glyph for the fire spells. Also lightning is already part of our DPS so idk why you’re pretending it has to be fire lol.
