Am I missing something here?
I keep seeing Restoration Shaman ranked as B-tier or even F-tier in some lists, but honestly it feels more like A+ tier to me. Maybe it’s just my build or playstyle. I’ve been stacking Haste and basically leaning into a Farseer totem-heavy setup. My totems are doing around 25% of my total healing, which kind of feels like a Druid HoT playstyle, except it’s coming from totems instead.
Right now my gear isn’t even great yet, so I’m really waiting for the season to start to push my Haste to around 25%. I also have a feeling Mastery might end up being really strong if it gets above 100%, but I guess I’ll see how that scales later on.
So I’m curious—what are people’s thoughts on Resto Shaman in PvE right now? Is it actually weaker than it feels, or is it just being underrated?
Post-data: farseer needs to be capable of moving healing rain…

I’ve been doing totemic resto and it feels really strong. Although mythic dungeons aren’t exactly very hard so it isn’t a fair assessment yet.
Plus totemic resto is getting a decent buff on the 17th.

with the healing rain i guess, im also spaming healing rain on CD as a Farseer and its doing good, would do better if we where abel to move it.
Yea Im leaning to give totemic a shot again with the buff to healing rain - plus I can move it around as needed. To me anyways totemic is the more “Shaman” spec of the two.
I think many of the complaints are about how it plays rather than how much healing it does. The spec lost a lot of useful spells, including an external defensive cooldown, so it’s not as versatile as before.
I think it’s fine, myself, but it does get kinda boring just cast-healing and riptiding non-stop.

i would love if they did it like how life bloom effects effo for druid, like the 1st healing wave places healing rain at the targets location

Healing feels fine and I’m easily clearing 0s but playing other healers i can tell there is a difference in throughput. When things go poorly and you need to pump that next lvl of healing other healers (druid) can do more and arent as reliant on their CDs to do so.
Being B tier means exactly what you’re experiencing, we’re fine. Not OP, not weak, just… fine. If you enjoy it play it tier which is a great spot to be in. We don’t need to worry about nerfs but might catch some buffs. anyone who puts it in F tier just doesn’t like the playstyle.

I personally don’t mind healing rain being only moveable by totemic. It makes it more of a totemic spell. Totemic need a bump without buffing farseer? buff rain.
they are buffing rain actually next tuesday, 40% or somehting like that.
Perhaps healing rain could be cast on a tank and it would follow them around for the duration of the spell.

this pretty good i mean its always ment to be ontop of tank. since its a rain and clouds it should be movable
I am enjoying farseer way more then totemic atm.
The 30 sec NS really helps with the RNG of the apex and overall more consistent output.
Also really dont cast chain heal and dont even take healing rain in mythics atm with the totem heals and ascendance procs dont really need it at all

Yeah, overall I prefer Farseer but I do really like playing with surging totem in dungeons. It’s basically a choice for me of do I want healing rain / acid rain uptime or do I want 30 second NS because it is very noticeable.
It’s unfortunate about the Apex talents because they are heavily skewed towards Fareer over Totemic. Farseer get a guaranteed storm totem every 30 seconds instead of every minute, you also get way more riptide casts and much shorter cooldown on riptides as Farseer which improves RNG proc chances. It is nice to see some buffs going in for Totemic, but they really need to adjust the Apex talents to be a little more balanced between both specs.
Back to the OP comment, Resto shamans are doing just fine as far as healing output goes I think why people relegate them to a lower tier is because they lost almost all of their defensives in the prepatch tuning, not to mention fun things like thunderstorm. They now pretty much entirely rely on pure healing output and lost things like damage mitigation from both stone totems, which will make things harder in challenging content where there’s more things that will one or two shot that healing alone can’t recover from.

Until you start doing high keys (>12) all the healers are equally viable.
People see the tier lists and expect D tier to be bad from the outset but it doesn’t work like that.
Most of us can play whatever we want and not be at any kind of disadvantage other than being denied by lemmings who think only meta is viable.
