Resto Raid help

I’m glad someone is logging it for you. That’s step one.

My next recommendation is to go to WoWAnalyzer (that’s a dot com) and look into what it recommends.

Most of what it says you should improve upon will end up being the advice someone combing your logs would say. It’s a really good tool.

The basic things, if you’re new to resto shaman-ing, is to know the fights well enough to position yourself for best utility and healing. If you’re starting heroic, the mechanics will be so much more important. You can’t ignore anything.

1.) Go in with replenishment pots and don’t worry about mana. You will likely blow through it during early progression while people are figuring out where to go and taking too much damage.

2.) Don’t focus on being top of the healing meter. Focus on keeping people up and the HPS will come. Druids and monks will frequently outheal you in raw numbers if they’re doing their jobs. That doesn’t mean you aren’t doing yours. There are fights when shammy shines, so don’t worry over that too much.

3.) Keep riptides out, and the way I try to do it is weaving them in every-other cast so that I’m getting full use of the tidal waves. Waves after rips are something you can do perpetually, even when oom, so if you get into the rhythm of rip/cast, rip/cast…it will help when you get into tight spots.

4.) Unleash life every time it’s up. Don’t save them. The chain heals you follow up with are feeding your cloudburst, and they are worth it.

5.) I will go and have a gander at your spec and such, but for the start, just remember the golden rule is to always be casting. NEVER stand there doing nothing or run around without casting. If your raid is totally topped up, you have a rain down, and there are riptides on your tanks, then dps. Never–never ever–stand still doing nothing.
