Resto Help

I’ve been healing on my druid for ages now, but recently been playing my resto shaman more often and… I kinda hate it.

I mean, I love the character, I love the effects and abilities and theme, but resto feels terrible. Maybe it’s because I’ve been spoiled by the way druid heals, stacking HoTs has always felt natural to me, but my shaman struggles to keep people alive and I’m constantly running out of mana.

Even when it’s only the tank taking damage, it seems like my heals just arent strong enough. My druid could throw a round of HoTs on a tank and not even have to worry about casting another heal for the next 15 seconds, short of some unexpected spike, but with the shaman I’m sitting here spamming healing wave / healing surge, keeping riptide up, using cloudburst totem, and all I’m doing is barely keeping the guy alive while draining my mana like crazy, and this is AFTER all of the supposed resto shaman buffs we got in the last few patches.

So what am I doing wrong? Is this just how resto shaman is going to be, or is there something I can change with my talents or abilities to get some stronger, more efficient healing output?

If your ilvl is similar to your ele spec 350ish and you are referring to m+ it is most likely a gear/stat issue. It’s a new season and lower keys are inherently harder than they previously were. You should be able to knock out 420-430 pretty easy. The rest will be getting your azerite traits correct for content and level your essences.

At that ilvl, you will have a really hard time as healer, it get better with gear.

Resto Sham is fine overall in pve, they just dont really have tank cds like other healers

I got 450 ilvl for pve. As long as people stack no issue. Any healer works with 75neck, 445ilvl for higher keys.

I’m not even talking mythics, just doing the timewalking dungeons these last couple days.

You shouldn’t just be keeping Riptide “Up” nor “spamming” healing surge or healing wave. You are running Echo of the elements which gives you the ability to constantly have tidal wave buff from riptide active. Should be doing Riptide, healing wave/surge, riptide, healing wave/surge. Also use unleash life on High tide chain heals. And know when to use cloudburst. Resto shaman is very reliant on high levels of crit to be very effective. Do everything you can to stack crit and make sure to use Riptide as much as possible before wave or surge and i promise it will get better. Dont forget to use your capacitor totem, and wind shear. Stopping damage is more effective than healing it!

Good luck!
