I’m sticking to classic too but…what is the pserver communities obsession with F R E S H? Do you know what happens every time? You guys scream fresh then when it dies down, so does the server. It literally happens all the time. Players flock to a fresh server and three weeks later it’s dead.
Actually, I think you answered your own question, in a sense. Only so many people can stomach starting over so frequently. That number will only get smaller.
I can see it now… within a couple months, the same folks crying for fresh servers will be here whining on the forums because:
- Faction imbalance
- Messed up economy
- Low population issues
- Bots
These problems could be fixed so easily.
Ban paid boosting and GDKPs. Bam, economy fixed. This would likely greatly reduce the number of bots running around as well (if people aren’t buying gold to fund boosts and gdkps, there is not nearly as much incentive to bot).
Temporarily disable new character creation on the faction that is overpopulated (just look at server logins for past 30 days and keep a 5-10% max gap between the factions). Second, don’t allow any transfer onto the server. Bam, imbalance fixed.
Do your job and report bots when you see them. Blizzard does take action against this. I have gotten in game mails from Blizz confirming bans against bots stemming from reports I made.
I would participate in a fresh server .
I can see mage boosting being banned, as it could easily fit the “cheating” section of the EULA as do various instance farming techniques. GDKP… not so much. Folks who walk away without new gear end up with fatter pockets.
This would go over like a fart in a spacesuit. No, terrible idea. Realistically, the faction imbalance is a player-created issue.
As have I.
Most of the horrible server imbalance was created due to mass transfers… I don’t see why simply blocking that would “go over like a fart in a spacesuit”. All it takes is one or two of the bigger guilds mass-transferring onto or off of a server to create nasty faction imbalance. Simply stop this from happening and you don’t get a situation like Heartseeker.
I agree! I am guessing the main reason they aren’t doing it initially is that they would have to find a way to launch the game with 2 different patches simultaneously… I think it would be really cool to see a 6-12 month cycle/season Fast enough paced that if you want to do raiding and just go back through all the progression you can but without getting the same burn out of doing BWL and MC for months and months before AQ. I figure 1PVP 1PVE server would suffice and just progress phase every 2-2.5 months. and once the season is over just like diablo your toon gets moved to the classic era realm unless you choose to progress it
Which were caused by poor player choices and griefing. Ergo, player-created. Getting off Stalaag was the best thing I did in Classic. No more queue and no more getting camped in Duskwood by 5 level “skull” horde.
I like the idea of seasonal servers mentioned above, but I suspect I’m opposed to the crowd wrt pace. I’d rather have them run on a two-year cycle, for the sake of we filthy casuals. A one-year season all but guarantees I would not get the experience I wanted there, which includes more raiding than I did this time through.
LOL yes?
Just keep rerolling?
I mean that’s how the game works. Fresh is just stupid.
I liked the idea of seasonal. You get 6 months to go as far as you can, then it deletes.
There’s your ‘fresh’ leveling experience.
Clueless. Pservers been around 10 years and gained popularity at the end. Classic wow wouldn’t exist without them. Do you think they kept the servers up forever without adding fresh servers? Lol
I love you
I agree with the seasonal servers idea. It’s a win-win solution for everybody still interested in classic IMO.
