The fact that these receipies are in my profession list means that I have learned them and now they are forgotten. All that in one week. I created this playing character last week.

I missed the part where you said this was a brand new character you were having issues with. I think a lot of people were confused by what you said. I have not created a character and tried to level it to 300 classic mining in the last week, although I have taken existing characters through the process of buying mining and picking herbs in Classic content.
This may be a new bug in the game. I have a lot of characters, and almost all of them are double gatherers so they can collect mats to sell while leveling up.

Its showing a lot of receipies both known and unknown. But I do not see any of the forgotten ones in that list.
i wish i could see your screen so i can figure out where youâre seeing âforgottenâ stuff.
does it actually say âforgottenâ? âŚor are you looking at the âunlearnedâ section?
Unlearned means you havenât picked it up from the trainer, not that you learned it and âforgotâ how to make it.
âŚwhich is why I asked you to go to the trainer and select all of the options.
so.. i just went to a mining trainer with a new character.
by default, it shows Cataclysm patterns.
this is the view with nothing learned, not even the mining profession.
if i set the filter to âavailableâ, it shows what i can learn
if i learn the first mining skill, the training window then defaults to Cataclysm.
(which is what you donât want!)
this is when you hit the âUNAVAILABLEâ option on the trainer window
It again, will show Cataclysm stuff (which you can safely ignore if you only want to work on Classic mining right now)
You need to pick through there, and find the âClassicâ ones.
It will tell you which level of classic mining is required to learn it

Ok, created a brand new character and raised it to level-5
I am in front of the profession trainer and asked to be trained for mining.
In his list I see tin, copper and silver smelting but requirement is level-50/65.
Its a pain having to restart training from the start because with my mining character at level-20, I started flying around and mining anything I could see in several regions. Getting to level-20 took some time âŚ.
Nobully, my game is in French. I have nothing resembling âUnlearnedâ. I have some list titled âIgnoredâ (translated). I can filter in/out this list by clicking the one that says âforgotten receipies" in the filter choices. I realized you asked me to check ON all 3 boxes in the filter, but I have 4 (translated to): known, forgotten, unavailable and available components.
if youâve learned mining, you can mine anything, anywhere.
you wonât get skill points if you havenât trained for the specific expansion.
but if you want to be able to learn how to smelt, you need to have the specific level of skill relevant to the expansion youâre mining in.
It sounds like what you see as âforgottenâ, is what the rest of us see as âunlearnedâ.
âunlearnedâ doesnât mean we learned it and forgot, it means not yet taught to us.
I think there is definitely something being lost in translation here 
as you can see in this image, itâs trying to get me to train Cataclysm mining, which I donât need.
If I open my mining journal, it looks like this:
The items which are grayed out in the bottom section of the left pane, are âunlearnedâ (i havenât learned them yet)
I need to get mining to a specific level to learn each item.
Then I go back to a trainer in a continent which is specific to what I want to learn.
eg: If I want to train classic mining, I canât go to a trainer in Boralus.
Iâd go to a trainer in Stormwind, or Elwynn
When Iâm at the trainer, I hit the filter at the top of the trainer window, and it will show what is available to learn
If I have the appropriate level of mining to learn something new, it will be displayed when I select âavailableâ at the trainer
I think you said youâre at 135?
The trainer should be able to teach you everything up to âSmelt Steelâ
I am at Stormwind, in the dwarf section. If the mining trainer there does not have the Classic smelting receipies, then which other trainer has them?
Found another trainer and he had those smelting receipies !!! Yipeee !
