Reserving is going to ruin the game

It’s a good system. Players are too inherently selfish to know what’s good for them.

Why can’t you just create a FFA group? Why must Blizz do it?

There’s reason people reserve & i’ll give you a personal experience. I have ran BRD arena no fewer than 80 times now since level 55. Banthok sash… an easy item drops often right? I see everyone with it. WRONG. Out of the 80 some off runs i’ve had it drop a total of 12 times… out of the 12 times I have lost every single roll…not mad about it at all…even when healers roll on a hit item…sure not mad…sure…NOT MAD A HEALER ROLLED ON A +HIT ITEM. SURE. I digress.

New to WoW/MMORPG’s orrr? Reserving has always been a thing, didn’t ruin in the past don’t see it ruining it now. I really see just as many groups doing non-res runs as I see em, even if they have A item on res, there’s a decent chance it’s not the item you want. Most ideal thing to do is join a guild, make friends, run with them. However, it’s still nice to offer a tank res on something if there’s just nothing they get from doing a dungeon.

The thing is there’s no loot for tanks in that dungeon. Not a single piece of BIS tank gear drops in Live Strat for Warriors.

If you expect them to keep running it then you have to accept they are going to want something out of it.

I didn’t need to make it up.

I’ve had a few “petty guildmaster” loot issues myself. You can pretend it was my fault that the gm decided the tank shouldn’t get gear upgrades on alt night because only alts should be getting gear. For me, it was an eye-opener.

I’ve heard the same stories so many times from people who refuse to join guilds because of so many bad experiences over the years, that I suspect people who were on the receiving end of personal connections allowed themselves to be unaware of abuses.

as long as people are willing to join those groups they will exist. I can see the logic in it sometimes… when someone runs something for an item and has lost it many times in the past to another player it can be maddening.

but thats what guilds/friends are supposed to be for. I dont blame them for trying to secure their whole reason for doing something but the ones like the rivendare mount are ridiculous

Me and my friends are silently and passively ignoring anyone who reserves stuff. I’ve noticed its typically the same people or same guilds.

It’s kinda funny cuz now I get tells all the time like “Hey so and so is wondering why you are ignoring them”.

We decided that this is the approach we are gonna take to prevent classic from being ruined by the same self-centered brats that ruined retail.

If this means we need to ignore the entire server and thus leave the game because there is no one left to group- with, we are fully prepared for that.

Most of us are already spending half our play time back in FF14 anyways.

Bottom line is this - we left retail for this stuff. It classic gets ruined by it, we’re leaving. It’s that simple. Honestly I didn’t have the bar of expectations set high coming into classic anyways. I knew this kinda of stuff would proliferate with today’s player base.

i’m a tank, i’ve seen this only once by some random dps warrior trying to reserve the purple chest if it dropped in arena… hence to say watching how long he lfg spams looking for people to enable his dumbness is a tad funny. In saying that, this isn’t really a thing on deviate delight. I only saw this one guy doing it, and I myself would never, or ever group with anyone who would claim stuff. It’s just selfish ninjas, don’t group with them and they’ll go away.

I still don’t understand why anyone cares if someone advertises with reserved items. You realize you don’t have to join them right? Make your own group or join another one without reservations.

ya the RoL reserves are funny… I have never even seen that boss spawn let alone drop a chest that has a 2% drop rate or something stupid like that not to mention it is mail and BiS for enhance shamans for a very long time

Ok let me pull out the crayons and explain this for the simpletons.

IT BECOMES THE NORM.

Understand?

Like now, for example, you can’t get a tank to run Strat because there is “nothing in it for them” so they demand 1 orb reserved… and now that’s turned into 2 orbs… I seen runs now where “all orbs are reserved” and when asked about it in chat, you get some arrogant bratty millennial response like “Don’t like it? Roll a tank”.

UNDERSTAND NOW?

It breeds toxicity. It angers people. It creates rifts in the game. Nobody likes self-centered people. Its one of the least desirable personality traits. This is not going to change. For centuries these qualities have been undesirable. This is not gonna change.

UNDERSTAND NOW?

YOU WANT AN ITEM?

PUT IN THE WORK AND WAIT FOR YOUR DIE ROLL LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

you’re wrong. big letters don’t make the wrongness less wrong, you just look way too excited and wrong.

Have you considered, perhaps making your own groups? Or is it perhaps easier for you to join someone else’s group, and then complain about how unfair it is after the fact?

For reference I’ve killed Rend 72 times now and never seen Mainhand drop. I no longer need the swords because I folded and bought two BoEs to replace it instead, but you can bet I didn’t want to lose a roll for it against some guy who waltzed in there 1 time.
In case you were wondering, here’s what my process looked like when I was farming the Mainhand:

  1. Run LBRS 12 times until I get all the gems needed to make a UBRS key, so I don’t have to also spam “NEED KEY” when making a Jed/Rend group.
  2. Fish for Jed. This means I run into the instance, and spam a /target macro for 2 minutes 30 seconds and reset as needed until I find an instance ID with Jed. If I don’t, casters/healers have far less incentive to come.
  3. Get unlucky and run out of resets. Level a Warlock alt to 45 and park him outside the dungeon so I get another 4 resets, and have someone to summon the group the second I find Jed.
  4. Form the group: “LFM UBRS Jed/Rend Run (MH Ressed) Have Jed | Have Summons | Have Key”.
  5. Pay 2 random people outside UBRS 1g each to get summons started and the show on the road.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 60+ times.

So yea. If you feel my reserving of this item after putting in that level of effort to facilitate my runs in a smooth and easy fashion for everyone else involved, then by all means, you can do it yourself just as easily.

Stomp around some more. That might make people start liking bratty self-centered people. Just stomp harder. Eventually that square peg will fit in that round hole right?

No it doesn’t. You know you can make your OWN groups right? As long as someone with a brain out there that makes their own groups, you will be fine.

Hey guys let’s make a group!

Okay, now we just need a tank.

30 minuets later. Hey guys, doesn’t look like this is gonna happen, all the tanks want the orbs reserved. Good luck.

You understand now kid?

what’s stopping you from building your own ubrs run with the same reserv for yourself?

Then make a tank. Use your brain.

Hell, tanks don’t want to pug anyways.
