Reroll Do or Don't

I really like spellcasters. And I’m starting to like my warlock more and more every day. I’m just not very good at playing lock yet. I die a lot if I pull too many mobs since my only CC is fear and they kill my minion before I can kill them.

I’ve gotten lucky playing mage with all of my CC abilities like frost nova, blink, cone of cold, blast wave, dragon’s breathe (BC & WOTLK), ect. One of these days I will get better with my warlock.

send vw first level up sm/ds and it’s breezy

As I said, I wasn’t going to touch on raid bosses with fire immunities. And being a frost mage doesn’t mean that a player has to stop using their fire and arcane spells. This isn’t Legion game play.

My point was that the top tier of raid drops is going to be static for another 6 months, so you are not going to fall behind if you try leveling a warlock

Leveling a mage is all about controlling the mobs and kiting.

Leveling a warlock is all about resource management. Everything is a resource. Your mana is the most obvious one, but your health is part of your mana bar, and your pet’s health and mana are used to protect your own health and mana.

With that in mind, you need to pay closer attention to the amount of mana you’re spending on each spell. Do you really need to shadowbolt that mob? … or would wanding be better even though it’s a little slower. If you spend a small enough amount of mana on killing that mob, you can go another few pulls without drinking and eating.

If you’re affliction you can even fill with improved drain life because it’s usually giving back as much “mana” as it costs. It may even be worth using CoS when you get it since that’ll increase the amount of life siphoned/drained.

Also, you should almost never have full HP and MP. If you can life tap so that HP = MP (roughly), you’ll get regen on BOTH bars.

My point is that I see players who only use frost bolt and blizzard. So I was reminding any other players that they have other spells too (even though some of them aren’t mana efficient like arcane missiles).

OP may not be one of those players only using 2 spells. So it’s for those other players lurking in this thread.

Thanks. That happens a lot to me, I go OOM.

Just try to keep HP and MP balanced. Not only will you get the regen on both bars, when you sit and eat/drink, you’ll get THAT regen on both bars too.

when you can afford full shadowweave asap do you need to worry about mana? Imp lifetap and drainsoul with 100+ sp at 33 will be more than enough.

Managing Warlock’s ressources seems to be a nightmare but in reality, its quite simple and easy. Ramp up damage Warlocks have is so strong, the enemy might be dead before he can even react. Well, he can’t actually do anything when there are 4 dots on him for 20 sec each.

Even with that full set, you’ll still burn through your mana pretty quick. Just because you have more of a resource doesn’t mean you don’t have to manage it.

Drain soul? Like, Improved Drain Soul?

That talent is just bad. It only triggers if YOUR drain soul is the killing blow. I think it was changed in TBC, but it was still bad.

100% mana regen after everykill is bad? it’s 2 points. what am i gonna put it in imp drain mana?

My point is that you’re not getting the benefit of imp DS unless the Drain Soul tick is the thing that actually kills the mob.

How are you guaranteeing that drain soul is the killing blow? You have to let all dots fall off and stop the pet from attacking. That’s not even REMOTELY worth the extra mana regen.

they changed it? wtf that’s bs eew. guess i just gotta take a huge lifetap to the face then. It’s not any worse than having to drink for 2 min as a mage.

It was changed in TBC to require the warlock to land the killing blow (but not necessarily with drain soul). It was STILL bad.

killing blow still made it the best leveling talents. lame! lol. Imp agony is so bad.

Imp Agony is only really bad because Agony isn’t great for leveling. Either it doesn’t get a chance to ramp up, or you’re not killing fast enough.

It’s good for dungeons though.

I just want it to level fast, get that crafted greens and boe’s which are all bis lmao, and farm mc for 2 items and wait for phase 3.

I am keeping my Mage, but leveling another class to be my main unfortunately. There are way too many Mages. It really sucks to see a message LF1M DPS BRD and get shot down because they have a Mage already. I also see raids on my server with 10 or more Mages. That is the exact opposite I saw in vanilla (with Rogues being way too popular). So, I decided to still get my Mage to 60 since I am so close, but level a different character that isn’t as numerous.

I see the same, and when bg’s come out being a lock in a world of mages will be fun.

Same. I changed from a Rogue main to a Mage main about 3 or 4 years. I’m currently trying to main both of them at the moment. But if there are too many mages, it seems like I might have to switch to a Druid or Warlock main too. I really don’t want to be forced to be a healbot at end game for Druid though.
