I got a 6 day suspension because a bunch of crybabies had their panties in a bunch over me calling plans to kill Van while I turtled. Had 15-20 of them saying they were going to report me for messing up their HPH, and it looks like they won…
Absolute scum, garbage human beings. –
edit i shouldn’t have said that, because now I’m just acting like what they probably accused me of.

This is why AV is cooked and why classic wow is unpopular. The players are omega-toxic. Don’t wanna play the correct way, just want our welfare PvE gear from r14.
edit again
They can call you all sorts of names in /instance chat, tell you to leave the game, tell you they hate you, you suck, you’re bad, etc and if you argue back it’s toxic and suspension-worthy. I got a silence in SoD p3 for calling out bad behavior of people trying to convince others to throw and give up the Arathi Basin games for more honor per hour. Shortly after I was silenced the devs literally made a blue post and started suspending people for that EXACT “give up and go next” behavior.
I feel like a 6 day suspension was heavy-handed all things considered. If what I said breaks the Player Social Contract then another silence would be more than adequate to get your point across that players are not allowed to argue back with those who start the issues. Not denying I could’ve been nicer with my “tone” while arguing back with these people. I’m sure I was sarcastic and not “turning the other cheek”, /ignore, or reporting them first, with nothing to say back. I didn’t say the things they were saying to me though. They started a dog-pile and it escalated into reports of Inappropriate Communication, Advertisement (no idea why this was selected), and Spam (does typing “Go North” and “All in” more than 3x in a game count as spamming now when others would say their strats over and over?)
I guess it’s also true that we don’t know whether or not those players also got in trouble. Two things can be true at once.
I mean, I completely understand what you’re saying – It doesn’t negate the fact that reporting someone for wanting to actually win is wrong.
They really need to take a hard look at the way their PvP system is set up and make some changes. People getting suspended for playing the game the correct way is degenerate.
When the alliance are killing Drek every game in under 7 minutes, i am 100% participating when I am trying to wipe them. I’d argue the people sitting in mid and only trying to farm LTs and Commanders are the ones who aren’t participating.
Also, if non-participation was the issue, why didn’t they report me as AFK or griefing their game? Instead they chose to report me for “Abusive Chat, Advertisement, Spamming, or Other communication violations”.
Sounds to me like they didn’t like me saying to go north and all in while I turtled to wipe the enemy team.
I suspect your 6 day suspension has less to do with your strategic choices and more to do with your methods of communication.
If you wanna turtle in AV that’s your choice, but I strongly advise against engaging with the masses while you do so.
This is a pretty misguided statement. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they mean guarding your own team’s tower (ie, seemingly afk on one), but there are times when it’s beneficial to stall the enemy flipping that tower to give your team the advantage.
In spite of what everybody hopes, every game doesn’t follow the meta perfectly, and I’d rather put my team in a position to win.
It’s crazy we got here but the community as a whole is soft as hell. BGs highlight this perfectly. Complete collusion to win or lose fast to maximize HPH. It won’t change as it’s too ingrained in the community psyche
The only hope in the future is C+ introduces rankings where losing locks you out of gear. Or at least makes it take a lot longer to get vs winning
Yea, saying “All north, kill Van = bis HPH on AV weekend” is super toxic, as well as saying “Viva La Tortuga” and “I will defend while you kill Van” or similar type of chat.
Meanwhile I had people calling me stupid, the r-word, saying my brain is small, all sorts of stuff. I also had people saying “reported :)” and “enjoy your ban” because i was messing up their HPH by trying to win EVEN THOUGH winning the match on AV weekend is actually and inarguable better HPH.
Why is it people like you fail to get the concept and always dance around the issue as if reporting people is somehow not abused and its perfectly ok.
Blizzard allowing players to get another player suspended via an automated report system without any recourse and the suspension is always upheld is theft and it’s a federal crime under the federal consumer rights act.
I literally just posted a topic about this. What is happening is called theft through report and blizzard full well knows players are abusing other players through this and are allowing it to happen. This is the equivalence of a person locking you out of your house because they claimed you called them names.
Actually had a really good turtle game last night. Some people complained, but for the most part everyone bucked up and did work. One person AFKed out and got placed back into the same game later.
People were running rams, dropping off insignias, both sides tried to summon the elementals. (Alliance side bugged out and we couldn’t get Treesus to spawn)
Horde finally won at 1hr 33mjn while we had Drek at 18%.
I probably tried to argue with them, like any person would be tempted to do. I know for a fact I didn’t tell them they suck, or that no one likes them, or call them the r-word like they did me. Had several of them jumping on me from game to game that ended up being in my matches. They didn’t like me making calls in /raid chat for all-in’ing north. I cant tell you how many times i got called stupid, r-word, and everything else.
I would bet a good amount of gold you didn’t get suspended for what you claim, and it was most likely due to a pattern of toxic behavior towards others
Which is absolutely not cool, but you don’t know if they also got a suspension too. All I’m saying here is that you don’t get a suspension for just playing the game. You were either being toxic right back to people who were being toxic to you, or you were flagged for afk while you were standing there trying to defend your actions.
I’m all for playing PvP in AV, but you still gotta play. Check my post history before you and the other dude jump down my throat. My advice is always the same. Enjoy the game but be careful how you interact with the masses.
If you want more details about why you were suspended, you can try the CS forum.
The only time I’ve been “actioned” was in phase 3 of SoD because I told someone they were bad and sucked for intentionally asking players to give up/let the other team win during an Arathi Basin. I got a 7 day character silence for it. I wouldnt exactly say that is “toxic behavior” on my part. Shortly after the Devs put out a whole blue post on this exact problem, and started suspending players for this give-up culture behavior. They said that they would not tolerate players “griefing” their teams by intentionally losing so that they could get more honor per hour. They also suspended people for even ASKING their team mates to give up in the middle of the game. This problem we have in AV was happening in SoD and the developers took care of it and the behavior stopped. Why can’t we have that for Anniversary realms?
The issue is that players are allowed to get away with trying to intentionally lose for greater hph, and that they can report other players for trying to win the game. Why is it okay for some players to say rude stuff in chat, but I can get banned because they spam a button for saying something they don’t want me to say?
6 months ago i got a silence for calling out bad behavior that we are seeing in Anniversary right now… The exact same behavior they were suspending people for. The whole “just give up and let them win” behavior. Heaven forbid you tell people theyre wrong for playing like that and that they can then mass report you for inappropriate communication.
It’s not uncommon to most players that people weaponize the report system.
If all you did was call out bad behavior you wouldn’t have been silenced. You seem to think that you are justified to violate the social contract just because others are also violating it. This is not true.
Its not weaponizing if you actually do the thing you’re accused of, you just happened to get caught when others didn’t.
