Replacing VuhDo with mouse macros

Looks like the addon I’ve used for years will be going away in Midnight. I’m currently seeking the means to create the same situation I have, but with using my own macros. I’ve done a little digging, but most things I’m finding are simply mousing over a party/raid frame, then using a keyboard key to cast.

However, I use mouse and shift + mouse commands for 100% of my healing spells, and would rather continue doing this as it would severely affect my muscle memory to have to play otherwise.

Anyone more adept at using macros have any solution, or a URL for a guide that explains what I’m looking for?

Blizzard has added click-casting to the base UI I believe in Dragonflight. If you go Esc > options > keybinds > click casting. You click on the spell and then assign a keybinding, the problem is it has certain limitations compared to Vuhdo. On my resto druid I have regrowth as left click, lifebloom as right click and mouse 4 as rejuv. I reassigned “target” and “menu” to alt-left click and alt-right click. Base blizzard UI right now doesn’t allow you to organize your buffs on the target and only shows 4 buffs which means about 3 of my hots don’t even show up. Certain keybinds like mouse scroll don’t work yet, hopefully they fix these things in Midnight.

I know they have some UI updates in store to sort of compensate for functionality from losing some addons, I hope so too. I hate to be one of those ‘I’m quitting’ types, but I don’t think I can go from what I’ve been doing for 10+ years to having over a dozen new keybinds. lol

The biggest issue with Blizz’s mouse bindings imo is that they’re universal. You can’t have them do different things depending on the frame being moused over.

What keybinds are you trying to setup?

Pretty simple layout.

Right/left, mouse wheel up/down, then my side button is 5/6. Then I also have shift + some of those keys setup.

I just put them over the frame and click over a name and it casts what’s bound to that particular key.

I have tried using the in-game mouseover system. I have found that if I assign either Shift, Alt, or Ctrl to a hotkey (i.e., Shift+E), the mouseover button doesn’t work. I may be missing something, but this has been my experience.
