right now in sod there is no point in ever using hemo, backstab is just way better, and somehow even saberslash and mutilate are better then going hemo in pvp. can we please get rid of the shadowstrike rune which no one ever uses in any situation, and replace it with a rune that will buff hemo, maybe make hemo cost 25 energy, and increase dmg taken from 7 to 10 or 12, or just something, hemo build is so fun in classic pvp and we just cant use it ever cause why would you when you can spam backstab for cheaper and more dmg.
I think the problem which changing Shadowstrike to a Hemo rune, is that for a new player the first rune you get when starting is the Shadowstrike rune and if it was tied to Hemo it would be weird as they don’t have that ability yet. I guess you could make it a new type of Bleed that gets buffed when the target also has Hemo on it, but lots of things are immune to bleeds, so it would need to have a special thing on it that makes it so nothing can be immune to it.
I think in general if the Dev’s had the time and wanted to they could do some really cool stuff with Rogue if they did a pass over all their runes to enable new playstyles.
Ranged Style
Add a New Glove Rune that is in the style of metamorphosis, that augments your abilities in exchange for stuff like Sinister Strike becoming “Sinister Shot”. Because people WILL rage about a stealthed ranged class. Maybe it changes the rogues stealth ability to like a camouflage ability where they are stealthed to mobs, but to other player within like 20ft the rogue becomes invisible. So you are trading range for your stealth ability
Between the Eyes/Quick Draw could be slightly modified to be better for PvE to enable this style.
Non poison - Melee Style
Currently Cut to the Chase is not used anymore. It could be changed to have a line that if you do not have Deadly Brew active or have Occult/Deadly/Instant Poisons on your weapons your Sinister Strikes deal X% increased damage.
Add a new chest rune that is non poison based, or bleed based. Honestly, have no idea what this would be. I was really sad to see the Duplicity and Deception are not good for rogue. Would be cool if this new rune gave you a base %chance to hit an extra time and maybe doubled the value of other effects that gave extra change to hit. Could create some weird autoattack spam rogue build. This spitballed effect is probably broken and should not be what they go with, but something to enable straight sword/mace combat rogue.
Boot Runes Both Waylay and Master of Subtlety are boring and lame, just make something new and interesting lol. Rolling with the punches is also boring, but at least it gives Rogue Tanks a bunch of health so its fine. Feels like other Tank classes got their HP buff baked into their main tank rune, but rogue tank is weird and very easy to cross into the OP territory so best just to leave it as it is to be safe.
Realistically, we are too late in development to get any big changes to Rogue Runes.
Call it shadowknived finishing range move who deal shadow damage modifier will be ap or agility only work if target have hemo debuff on them make hemo give 5% hit and deal 40% damage. Also make premiditation apply hemo debuff and give something else than 2 combo point.
Now you just go buy all the runes at lvl 1 for 1 copper each
