Another forum larper. Guarantee half of you don’t even play retail yet you want to ruin it anyway. Pathetic.
I’m open to arguments. What do you feel is damaged about hpal by the removal of crusader strike? Given that both holy shock and judgment are being made much more available to compensate.
Was there a particularly good feeling to pressing the button? It did no healing and almost no damage, it didn’t have a particularly interesting animation or sound effect. The only worthwhile effect was reducing the cooldown of another ability, if you were talented, and this has been baked in by general cooldown reduction and moving the talent to function with holy shock instead of crusader strike.
Tell me what you loved about it.
Soon as you post from any relevant character i’ll answer.
So nothing in blizzard’s development notes make mention of “We want paladin to stand in range casting” the only thing they’ve really discussed is “We want to make the rotation more steady and easier to follow.”
While one might be willing to argue their notes on Holy Light might suggest it, I’ve personally read it as HL being something you spend alot of mana to cast if you need bursty on demand healing between cooldowns and Not as something you’re supposed to utilize as the main focus. The focus of the rotation is still on building and spending holy power and using instant casts.
If anything. The changes to SotR and Shining Righeousness have made them into resource management tools that still encourage a frontline position.
And one thing that we forget with the fact everything we do is usually instant cast is that you can auto-attack through the instant casts.
You can still chose to stand 40 yards away spamming FoL and HL but all these changes have done is effectively combined cs and hs into one button.
I’ll pass, thanks
That’s what I thought.
Prior posts make it clear you don’t think, champ

I think you two should kiss at this point tbh. This is just coming off as two lovebirds bickering.
I gave you a heart so you know that I value your contribution
I look forward to the changes as well. CS is not a great source of damage right now it just gets pressed to generate holy power. It can also be really awkward when you’re dodging mechanics on the floor to use. I won’t miss it at all.
I play retail. I am a Heroic raider. I’m hoping the melee healer playstyle of Holy goes away.
If you’re caught up in wanting to be the plate-wearing, light-wielding warrior that gets into the fight while also healing and supporting your allies…In my opinion, you just described Protection Paladin. Which is super fun, by the way, and I encourage any Holy Paladin player who i frustrated with the “loss” of melee mechanics for Holy to try out.
Also weird. I did a name/race change and I guess I had to log out then back in for it to take effect. The Blood Elf picture listed as a “Zandalari Troll Paladin” had me do a double take, lol.
Wants to continue healing as a Paladin in melee range.
Gets suggestion to playing a tank.
That’s about as big brain as it can get really. You could have just said “tough luck roll monk”…
While that is a cute take, I would disagree with you. While they both utilize healing spells and are both frontliners, there IS in fact a difference in priority and targeting that makes being in melee and healing different from being a tank that can occasionally offheal.
However, the removal of crusader strike alone is not changing the fact that the frontlines is going to be the optimal positioning for holy paladin. I’m certainly still going to play that way because nothing that’s been done or stated is going to inherently change that flow.
I’m hyped for it returning i have no interest in damage/melee,
i play Hpally since 2003 i play it for the mogs.
I’ll be happy its returning.
However they should just give option for both playstyles and do it with monk..
Hpally for 14 years was caster
Monk was caster up till couple expansion ago.
Blizzard messed up by changing this after so long and im glad its making a return. myonly worry is that they need let us keep damage abilities or gl questing? but thats why i ret/prot for quest and holy for endgame
This i did mythic Nerub up till 3/8M would had 5/8M on her maybe 6/8M
but ended up having to switch to Rsham cause apparntly it was rare for our team to get Rshams and we needed the Cooldowns cause Hpally just does not have many.
I was a caster then never used CS. did judgment here/there etc. but i was doing pretty well guild was skept on it at first like nah aint no way proved them wrong they stopped complaining.
Was fun but the tier bonus was bleh S1
i cant wait for the changes and i’m likely gonna go hard
It’s not a “cute take”. There are two common topics when this issue continually gets brought up. It’s “I enjoy melee healer playstyle” and people referencing the “theme” of paladin.
The first point? That’s an opinion, there’s no right or wrong. But as countless others have said, Holy was not a melee healer for many years, and we are wanting the spec to go back to how it was. The second point? It’s difficult to compare in-game specializations of a class to a “theme” in the lore of a video game. The best, straightforward comparison of a “light-wielding warrior that gets into the fight while also healing and supporting your allies” IS Protection Paladin. And I use that wording because that is the #1 complaint regarding “theme” and “identity” for those wanting to keep Holy Paladin a melee healer.
If you think my response was “Sorry, if you want to play a melee paladin, then play Protection”, you misread/misunderstood my comment.
If you can explain;
in any other way, I’m happy to hear it. Which you did.
Which can still only be interpreted as I said. If you liked healing like a melee paladin, that’s going way. Go play a tank instead.
There isn’t really a different way to read that and take in practice.
