Healer specs are already bad enough in solo content. They aren’t going to deal much damage at all. This would not be an issue… if it weren’t for the fact that healer specs cover specific themes or stats
Priest is extremely egregious. There is no damage spec that is light themed and many players wanna be purely light themed and not use void damage. The only spec that’s jade serpent based is the healing one with the damage spec forcing you to call upon Xuen, not to mention it’s annoying to swap between intellect and agility. Paladins have the same issue cause they gotta swap between intellect and strength.
It’s not like Druids where they have a “damage” counterpart to restoration with the balance spec. Balance covers the same theme of being spell focused and it uses the same stat as restoration, so it doesn’t have the same issue as paladin and monk
I understand where blizzard is coming from because healers shouldn’t be expected to interrupt, but this change just makes them even more painful to play in solo content like questing or delves. At the very least, disable interrupts only in instanced content like dungeons and raids.
Playing a healer in solo content is objectively playing the game wrong. Peer-reviewed scientific journals all agree, all the popular kids agree, history will judge it to be true, and it’s even in the Bible probably.
Golly, it’s a real shame you can’t spec out of healer and into a DPS with the click of a button. Gotta go all the way to a class trainer, pay an ever-increasing amount of gold, then individually reallocate all your talents. What a nightmare.
…except is isn’t 2004 any more and you CAN switch your talents with the click of a button. So do that.
I mean I would be fine giving everyone an interrupt but we are using the tools Blizzard has given us, and yes, one of those tools includes swapping specs.
I’ve never had to interrupt a single spell during questing, so this seems like a non-issue. Mobs just die extremely quickly and don’t have any meaningful abilities.
With Delves it’s similar. They are quite easy and I’ve not had any problems as a Holy Priest doing them during TWW, I even rarely use my Silence as a Shadow Priest because it doesn’t matter. The only thing that’s worth interrupting are shields from mobs, but they can just be damaged away, so it’s also not a problem.
Besides.. why would anyone choose to play solo content as a healer, when it’s much easier to just switch to a DPS spec? “I can’t play it!” is not really a good excuse, because some basic spells without experience with the rotation is enough for solo content.
Fundamentally I tend to agree, which is why I was surprised one can play a blood death knight or a vengeance demon hunter and DPS, tank and self heal. Its like a pseudo hero class. I was not around for WoTK and I always assumed DK would be something that you did after leveling to 80, turning your character into a DK and then grinding a hero type class after another slog of leveling. So double level equals double power. But obviously that doesn’t work in an MMO RPG. But they still refer to them as hero classes … right?
In 2025, just get an DK or DH and run around killing everything and being 100% self-sustaining in world and solo content.
pretty much
Side Note:
I thought every class today has the basic tool kit of spell interrupt CD and damage reduction CD
Maybe I just lucked out with all the classes I have dabbled in. lol . I always put those abilities on the same key binds.
